At the moment, Ethan had no idea how he would use the portal to transport himself to the mortal plane because he had no clue how it worked.
He didn't know if some sort of coordinates were required, as depending on the method used, he might or might not be able to return immediately once he had the opportunity to use it.
That said, for now, the important thing was that there was a way out, and for the moment, he only needed to figure out where it was and how to use it.
Everything else would come later.
At first, he had thought of breaking into the place where the portal station was located, but he had to reconsider this option for several reasons, one of which was that this place turned out to be far more dangerous than he had expected.
As mentioned earlier, the base was a military base and housed an entire armed legion.
