Hob and Friz woke up unusually early in the morning, having slept through the whole day yesterday. After waking up, Hob and Friz took turns to get fresh and take a bath, while the one outside continued to read the monster booklet. There was information about many monsters inside the booklet, most of which would have been deadly if one didn't know about them beforehand. Thus, Hob and Friz were taking the survival training very seriously now.
After they were both done bathing, they ate some nutritious food and went out to meet the elder again.
To their surprise, when they went out, all those who went to the training facility before were waiting in the hallway. Hob and Friz stopped and looked their way, intending for them to explain what this was about.
"Allow us to introduce ourselves. My name is Amy, and the young man beside me who was rude to you yesterday is named Geld. If not for you taking the initiative to tell us about the training facility yesterday, we still wouldn't know that there was such a building here that we could use. Even though the training was harsh, I'm sure it'll help us out in the hunt. Therefore, we wish to accompany you both to the training facility to take the survival training with you," a tall young girl came forward and explained to Hob and Friz.
"Although we will wish to accompany all of you to survival training, we have already completed a part of it, so we're going today for the continuation of what we learned yesterday. I don't think it will be beneficial to you guys if you accompany us to the training facility," Hob said, trying to explain the situation.
"I apologize for my rudeness yesterday, but please allow us to accompany you both to the training facility. Even if it's a continuation of the survival training, I'm sure it will come in handy for some of us in a critical situation," Geld said looking apologetic.
"If that's the case, then sure, follow me. But don't say I didn't warn you beforehand," Hob said with an evil grin.
"We understand," everyone said in unison.
Hob went forward and started walking in front of everyone once again, but this time he didn't pull Friz along. Instead, Friz walked alongside him by herself.
Soon they were inside the training facility, and the elder looked at everyone coming towards him and then at Hob, intending for Hob to explain.
"Well, they asked to tag along for the survival training today. I did tell them that we're doing a continuation of the last lesson today, but they insisted on coming with us, saying it may help them in a critical situation, and so we're here," Hob explained helplessly.
"I see, it's indeed not your fault then. Besides, all of you have to leave for the hunt tomorrow, so I don't think they have the leverage to wait for doing it step by step. So, you did a good job bringing them here," the elder said.
"Yes, teacher," Hob bowed to the elder.
"Now everyone sit down in a circle around me, and I'll teach you guys about survival, which will help you survive in most situations. Since Hob and Friz have already taken the first lesson from me, today's lesson will be a continuation. But just so that the others don't feel lost, I'll repeat some of the crucial information again." the elder said in a loud voice so that everyone could hear him.
After that, everyone soon sat around the elder giving him enough space to teach and the elder gave a brief summary of what he had taught Hob and Friz yesterday. Although many details were missing this time around, it was still great considering the small amount of time the elder took to explain it.
"Now that all of you have caught up to Hob and Friz, let me start the continuation lesson. Now that all of you know the threats, the next step is to know the food and know where to go," the elder said, taking a deep breath.
"To know the food, you must know what is food. In simple terms, food is anything that you can consume in order to gain energy and nutrients required by your body. Of course, your body must also be capable of digesting it in order for it to be your food. Any doubts?"
"Teacher, if there is something that can provide us with sustenance at the moment but will poison us or have some other negative effects on us later on, will it be considered food?" a fat young man asked.
"A good question indeed. It will be considered food, but this type of food should be the last choice and only be eaten if the sustenance provided by it can help you survive long enough to get to safety or think of a way to remove its negative effects. Otherwise, you're better off looking for some better food for yourself," the elder answered the question patiently.
"Teacher, what should we do if we can't find any food around ourselves for a long period of time?" another frail looking young girl asked.
"Eat dirt. Yes, you heard me right. If you can't find any food around yourself for a long period of time, you should eat dirt and continue traveling away from the area you're in. Eating dirt can ease the hunger but doesn't provide any nutritional value. Thus, it is necessary to find food as soon as possible instead of relying totally on dirt. It will only help you psychologically and not physically," the elder explained with a smile.
After that, the elder explained various ways to find food, such as looking for trees and trying to get their sap. Even some dead trees have sap for years, and most of the time it is edible. In addition to that, he also explained how to tell if something is poisonous to eat or not and ways to get more nutrients out of your food, such as chewing it properly, which may seem simple but if followed strictly can work wonders.
"Now that you know the food, the next step is where to go, because once in the wild and lost, most of you will not know where to go to be safe, and that can be fatal," the elder said in a melancholic voice.
"So now I will tell you how to know where you should go if lost in the wild...
