We arrived at our destination. We got out of the car and Mom knocked on the door. Angel opened up and said "hello. So glad you are all safe." "So are we." My mom replied.
"Come in. I'll show you to your rooms."
Angel lived in a big two story house. She lived alone. She was a lawyer. She had extra rooms for situations like mine. That I am very thankful for.
The inside was very nice. Very classy. For a lawyer, it wouldn't surprise me that she could afford this house. I'm talking expensive glass vases and glass objects. I haven't been in here for awhile. Mostly because my mom and dad are busy with their lives.
She took us up stairs. She was a head of us. She pointed to the door on the left and said "Lewis you're in here and Betty you're across in the other room. Barb and Ashton, your bedroom is at the end of the hall." "Okay" I replied. I decided to go into the room and settle down. Everyone else pretty much did the same.
Once I got situated I decided to listen to music with my headphones and rest my eyes. Take in everything that just happened. A lot happened in one night. Im just glad it was on a Friday and by the weekend. Other wise I wouldn't know what to do. Just then I opened my eyes and look at the open door. It was Angel.
"Hey. Just seeing if you're okay." She said. "Yeah I am. I'm just listening to music." I replied.
"That's totally understandable. You want to talk about what happened?"
"Sure I guess. I've got nothing to do anyways."
I decided to tell her because well she was my moms friend and I trust her. She was also a therapist before she decided she was a lawyer. "My boyfriend Andrew and I went to party. He went for a drink. John told me everything. Andrew came back asking what happened and I lied. He then dragged me to the bathroom and asked and I lied again. He squeezed my arm hard and then I told him the truth. We shouted at each other. I kicked him the balls. I walked out. I hear a car and Andrew call my name. He then tried to rub me over with his car and tried to shot me. He then went in to my house screwed the electricity. No we have none. And now where here."
That's an awful lot to take in."
"It is."
"Just know I'm here for you now matter what."
" I know."
"And if you want press charges that understandable as well."
"We probably well."
"Get some rest."
"I will."
I put my headphones away and start to fall asleep in bed. I woke up and went down stairs for breakfast. My mom and Angel were already there. "Hello" I said
"Hello. Your awake. That's good. I got good news and bad news." Angel said.
"Bad news first please."
"Okay well the fuse box is damaged and need to be replaced. Which we'll take about two weeks."
"And the good news?"
"We're pressing charges for the damage of property, breaking and entering, and attempted murder."
"Good. Do you have any cereal?"
"Yeah it's on top of the fridge."
"Okay thanks."
I go to the kitchen and get some cereal. It was captain crunch. I put the cereal on the kitchen table. Then I grabbed a bowl and put some cereal in it first. Then I put the milk in and started to eat.
I still couldn't believe all of this was happening. It felt so unbelievable. Like a nightmare that was never going to end. But I know I would get through this. I had too. I have no choice.
"By the way. The trial is this Thursday." My mom said. "Great. What time?" I asked.
"4:00p.m."
"Good. I don't need to miss out on school."
"Yep."
It was silent until my mother asked "have you broken up with Andrew?" "No. Not yet."
"Will I would do that."
"I will. Eventually."
"No eventually. Now please."
"Fine."
I decided to text and break up with him that way. I texted 'hey I'm breaking up with you'. The response was 'I'm going to burn your house down'. "Hey mom?" I said. "Yes?" She replied.
"He's threatening to burn our house down."
"Oh well. Theirs no way he would do that."
"But what if he does."
"If he does we'll figure something out. For right now don't worry about it and focus on eating your food."
"Okay."
I got done with my food. I was my dish and put it in the dishwasher. I decided to go back to my room and listen to music. Close my eyes on the bed and go to sleep. The next few days were Boring. It was normal but boring and for once I felt at peace.
Few days later it was Thursday. The day of the trail. It was after school. Today was the day. On the day of the trial. "You ready for the trial?" My mother asked. "Yes," I replied.
We were in the car. My father was driving. My mother was in the front passenger seat. My sister and I were in the back of the car. The car was a 2000s Ford. It had a radio, a cassette player, and a CD player.
We were listening to a cassette tape I made. A Lofi playlist from my SoundCloud I made. It was a 30-minute drive to the trail, so why not? My mother can't drive because she is ill. She hasn't driven since I was a kid. The doctor said she could never drive again.
Even though she can't drive she's still my mom. I love her for that. I love all my family. Even if some I know won't accept me for who I am. That's unfortunately the sad truth.
In no time we arrived at our destination. "Well, we're here. You guys ready?" my Dad says. "Yes," I reply. We got out of the car and walked in. Took our seats.
We saw Mom's friend. Our lawyer. She walks up to me and says "You guys doing okay?" "hanging in there" I replied. Within minutes the trail started. I got called first to the stand.
"Mr.London, can you tell from the beginning how it happened?"
I told them what I told my mom's friend. I'm keeping it short to spare you the details. I don't to bore you. You might be wondering about Andrew though. Which I tell you.
Andrew took the stand after me. "Mr.Astro, can you tell your side of the story?" Angel said. "Welp, I was drunk, and had a little too much too drunk. I was still mad about the argument Lewis and I had. So I thought why not treat him a lesson? So I trespassed the house. Lucky for me the door was already open. I opened the fuse box. Got some equipment I always keep with me and started pulling the buttons in the house of the fuse box." Andrew said
"Quick question... How did you know to do that?"
"My Father is an expert when It's come to the election."
"Ah. Well, that makes sense."
I'm going to stop boring you with details but to put a long story short, the jury found Andrew guilty and he was giving community service to help with the house which his parents and himself have to help pay for. Keep in mind his father is also helping with the house. Everything was quiet. It was peaceful. For once In my life I felt happy.
