Chapter 3 - Chapter Three

As Anderson ran through the forest, he felt a slight sense of unease, the so-called bombs seemed to have landed around his village. Even though he wasn't sure what they did, but they didn't seem like good things.

After a while, he arrived at the village- or what was once his village, for it now lay before him, completely in ruins. Fires were burning everywhere and the houses were razed to the ground.

Further ahead, there was a giant airship slowly flying away, below it were the burnt fields Anderson had worked so hard to maintain.

Anderson was shocked and distraught, but he had to know, were his parents okay? he walked to his house which was the second furthest away. As he walked through the village he saw black human-shaped figures lying on the streets.

Finally, he arrived at his house which was also in ruins, more black-shaped figures were lying on the ground but he couldn't find his parents. "Mom? Dad? Is anyone there?" Anderson was scared.

He received no answer. After waiting for a second he decided to find out what those black figures were. As he walked up to one he realized, that it looked familiar, like his dad.

The first and only time he saw someone dead was his other neighbor who fell from a roof and onto a scythe when he was fixing the tiling. That was a bloody affair, he'd had nightmares for weeks about it. But this, this was a cold merciless deed. The corpse he was looking at was intact, and except for the black soot that covered it, seemed perfectly fine but it wasn't breathing.

"Dad? Wake up! stop playing around! This isn't funny" Anderson sobbed. the reality of it sinking in.

And so he sat there, sitting next to his family thinking about what would happen next.
