Chapter 24 - chapter 23

The person whose name was called came to life as if awakening from a dream, and the scenes hidden in the depths of his memory began to stir. Crystal was eager to say something more, but the person stopped her lightly. He ceased talking and didn't answer.

A motorcycle flew past Crystal. She couldn't dodge and was about to be hit. In that moment of danger, the man's arms tightly hugged her waist and lifted her up as he did when she was a child.

This strange posture made Crystal's ears rub against the side of her neck, and she could hear the beating of her pulse.

"Why are you still the same as when you were a child, walking without looking at the road?"

"What are you thinking about? Why are you still concentrating on walking like you were when you were a child?"

The motorcycle drove away quickly, Nick lightly scolded. The expression on his eyebrows was a little vivid, and Crystal blushed inexplicably and her heart beat.

Just like when she was a child, he always had the warm fragrance of grass and trees on his body. Crystal wanted to ask why he was here, how he recognized her, and how he had been all these years, but Nick naturally grabbed her hand from behind, and Crystal stopped talking.

After walking unsteadily for a long time, she finally walked back to the art gallery. The girl just now was shocked when she saw that Nick had brought someone back.

Nick put down her hand and turned around to talk to the girl. Crystal could clearly see what he was wearing. A dark green knitted sweater, with a loose fit that made his figure more upright. Below were a pair of straight smoky gray trousers, and dark brown hair, but luckily... it wasn't white...

For some reason, Crystal thought of the sad water lilies in the small painting gallery.

The girl chatted with Nick for a while, and said in a teasing tone, "Okay, I know everything."

Nick held his forehead, "Hey, what do you know?"

Nick's hair looks messy, so he went to comb his hair and moved aside for Crystal. He brought a stool for her and asked her to wait at the counter.

When she was a child, he did the same thing when she went to his house. Her brother brought her a stool and let her sit in the room and eat popsicles so that she didn't have to go home to listen to training or work forever. There's so much work to do.

The fat cat woke up from his dream and slapped him with a paw. The big fat cat had a strong sense of territory. When he saw Crystal, a stranger, he began to breathe fiercely.

Crystal was startled and mewed. After coaxing it, Nick walked out of the cubicle before his hair was done and hit the cat's head a few times with the back of a comb.

The cat was so fierce, and although Nick didn't use much force, he might get angry. Crystal wanted Nick to stop, but unexpectedly the cat seemed to be tickled, rubbing at Nick's feet.

"Hey, this cat,"

"Be good, be quiet, and don't be aggressive."

Nick's three-word technique actually worked, and the ferocious big fat cat calmed down. Cat hugged Nick's wrist and began to coquettishly. It barked just now. Like pliers, now it's called like a clamp.

Nick pushed the meat, and the big fat cat ran away quickly to eat. Before running, he did not forget to glance at Crystal.

The atmosphere in the room returned to silence. Crystal looked at Nick who was looking at the fat cat. He was at least eighty similar to Brandon, but their temperaments were so different that they were too easy to tell apart.

Nick's expression was very light, different from Brandon's arrogant indifference, as if it was a kind of faint boredom after seeing through the world.

He didn't say anything and walked in front of Crystal, then he grabbed her hand.

It didn't matter whether Crystal picked him up or not. She followed him upstairs in a daze. Nick often held her hand like this when she was a child. Maybe Nick even hugged her. Crystal touched her nose in embarrassment.

The second floor of the studio is Nick's home. The small space is divided into bedrooms, living rooms, and bathrooms in an orderly manner. Nick leads her into the bedroom. The windows are made of bamboo. The scene of Nick opening the window is like a painting.

He took out a floral shirt from the closet, made of soft cotton and linen fabric, "Take off the wet clothes, it's easy to catch a cold if you wear them."

The fresh air unique to the small town rushed to her face, and Crystal responded, inexplicably feeling a little uncomfortable. Blushing, for a long while, she held back a sentence, "I have clothes."

"My luggage is at the train station, why don't I go back and get it now."

Nick said, "No."

"It's so late, it's too late."

"Then tonight..."

"Let's stay here for now."

After saying that, Nick skillfully began to make the bed. There was only one single bed in the bedroom. The height was only 1.5 meters wide, which was not enough for two people to sleep on. Crystal hesitated and said, "Brother, I'll sleep here, where will you sleep?"

"The floor."

Nick smiled.

"How can that be done... It's too troublesome for you, I can just sleep on the floor..."

"It's okay," he patted her back, "I'm getting older, sleeping on a hard place is good for my waist."

Crystal faltered again. After a while, Nick brought two cups of hot tea from outside.

"You need to boil water in advance to take a bath. If you need anything, tell me. I will accompany you to get your luggage tomorrow."

A quiet silence surrounded the two of them. They hardly reminisced about the past. Nick seemed to be falling asleep again. The faint smell of vegetation made Crystal feel very comfortable, but she was also inexplicably lonely. Nick had always been a person who didn't talk much or ask questions, so the anxious person suddenly became Crystal, "Nick... Brother."

Brandon is also two years older than her, but he is much younger than when they get along with him. She never calls Brandon Brother.

"Aren't you curious... why am I here?"

Nick regained consciousness and smiled, "Curious."

"But I think that when you want to say something, you will naturally say it."
