Chereads / BLEACH: The Dusk In Red / Chapter 57 - Thousand Year Promise

Chapter 57 - Thousand Year Promise

A blue haired man, wearing torn black robes stood alone in what seemed to be a large cave. He was standing among a numerous amount of dead bodies, while expiring heavily.

Before him, stood a set of stairs and which led up to a giant purple door decorated with two massive golden skeletons.

In his left injured hand was a wakizashi katana.

"I need too... I..."

His exhaustion made his legs give away, however he was quickly caught by another injured man wearing the same robes. He had black hair with a single red streak. Unlike his friend who was carrying a sword, he was holding a baby in his available hand.

"Don't pass out yet, Hatz! We're so close! All our comrades would've died for nothing if we fall here!"

In the small passageway which led to the large cave, the voices of multiple men could be heard.

"The revolutionist's! They are this way!"

The two quickly hurried up the stairs, and Hatz slowly started to unsheathe the katana in front of the door. As he did, the world turned dark.

...

Kai and his group were walking down a hallway after that fight. After that interesting turn of events at the end, the event had been temporarily paused because of concerns for everyone's health, following Kenpachi's spiritual pressure release.

"That was crazy! Senjuro is a mad man!", Kai said.

He looked back at Shinten and Ito, but their heads were still blue from sickness. They were unable to respond. Yuki on the other hand seemed perfectly fine, while Shido was barely managing.

"How are you still talking like that... I thought I was going to pass out..", Shido asked.

Arrogantly Kai replied, "I don't know? I guess I'm just resilient to this kind of thing?"

But suddenly he hunched over while gripping his stomach. He tried to brush it off as if he was fine, but everyone could tell he was desperately trying to hold it in.

A couple hours later

Kai and Kurenai were walking in the dead of night by themselves. They were just outside the school's walls in a place were 'almost' no one could see or here them.

Kai then suddenly asked Kurenai,

"Are you okay? You haven't spoken to me in a while? Did Kenpachi's Spiritual Pressure affect you too?"

Kurenai just fluttered it's wings. As if he was telling Kai to mind his own business.

"Sometimes I wish I didn't know you could talk..."

Suddenly a yellow Reishi arrow pierced through him in his left shoulder which made shout. He quickly tried to escape, but suddenly halted as two more arrows landed in front of him.

"I only hit one?"

He looked over to see who it was, just to be greeted by a strange looking person. He had long black hair, which is arranged into five fanned-out spiraling spikes and his eyes were covered by a strange orange mask.

Despite him possessing muscles and abs, they were incredibly thin. He had strange stitches which covered his face and body.

Upon noticing the clean white outfit and cloak he was wearing, Kai suddenly started to feel fear.

"Reishi arrows and a white outfit... are you a Quincy?"

"Well aren't you a smart one! Not that it would change anything for you. I'm on strict orders here, so your gonna have to get beat up by me for a bit."

He quickly fired three more arrows in succession at Kai, who promptly drew his normal Zanpakutō with his right hand. He managed to deflect two of them, but the third one pierced his stomach.

"Kurenai, you can do hell butterfly stuff right? Get me some help!"

Kurenai urgently flew away, while Kai tried to get away from the Quincy. The critical hits he sustained however made him incredibly slow.

The Quincy jumped down from the roof and in front of Kai, before firing a a Reishi arrow in the shape of a U at him.

Kai tried to block it, but strangely, the letter U was plastered onto his body.

"That's odd? I hit you twice but your Morphine pattern isn't changing. I'm pretty sure I hit you with enough Spiritual Pressure too."

"Disappointed about something? Piano teeth?"

That comment aggravated the Quincy, which made him fire an additional two Reishi arrows. Kai easily blocked one, but the second went through his chest.

"I was only meant to push you a decent bit, but now that you've said that, I'm gonna leave you half dead."

Kai sustained his defensive position, but he could feel his consciousness fading.

"I've got no choice... I'll have to use that."

Before he even got a chance, he suddenly fell to the floor as he slowly drifted to sleep. The amount of blood he lost, made too weak to do anything.

The Quincy who did this too him, looked at him with disappointment.

"His morphine pattern didn't change at all, I wasted my time here. Mayuri better give me a longer break for this one."

The Quincy quickly ran away, leaving behind an almost dead Kai.

Later that day he would be found by some random patrolling Shinigami as well as Shido who Kurenai asked for help.

Hueco Mundo, Ruined Castle

After the events of Can't fear your own world, the Soul King palace replica got dropped into Hueco Mundo. The palace ended up becoming a playground for the Arrancar children( the picaro), as well as the new home of the surviving Arrancar from the Soul King war.

Several Arrancar children, gathered around a tent, with a few of them even taking short peaks inside. Suddenly the tent opened, revealing Albrecht who quickly chased them all away.

"Annoying... I can't even get any sleep without being watched."

He suddenly heard someone cheekily laughing a short distance away. It was Nelliel.

"It's only fair of them to be a little curious. You do look an awful lot like that man after all."

"..."

Albrecht, not wanting to bother himself with anymore work quickly walked back into his tent, but then Nelliel asked,

"If your awake, would you mind helping me gather everyone up? It's going to be time to eat very soon."

After thinking about it for a while, his stomach began to rumble. Reluctantly he left his tent, and went back to look for the children which he chased away earlier.

"If you always act grumpy like that, then you won't be able to get along with them."

"I don't need to get along with them. I need to go back to the living world soon, so forging meaningless connections is pointless."

"Are you worried that they'll miss you when your gone?"

Albrecht turned away, out of embarrassment rather than annoyance.

"Shu- Shut up!"
