Twyla felt arms cradle her body. She blinked sleepily at the warm body holding her.
"What's happening?" she asked, her words slurring. Darkness surrounded her.
A deep chuckle vibrated through her. Bastian. "Hello, my little piece of night. I didn't think you wanted to spend the entire night on the cold floor."
"My room was too far," Twyla complained. She nestled deeper into his chest. "Wait. How did you know?"
"I wouldn't be a very good king if I didn't know what was happening in my own castle."
"Hmm," Twyla mumbled, sleepily. "Why are we walking?"
"I didn't want to wake you but here we are. I also just enjoy having you in my arms."
"It is nice here." Twyla snuggled close and fell asleep again.
