Chapter 1 - Indescribable Evil

A absent minded youth sat at the back of a classroom next to a newly built window, staring out at the baby blue sky, enjoying the autumn breeze as it combed through his dark messy hair. His mind lost in dreadful thoughts, pondering the worth of his life as he scratched at the fake oak table below his hands. He had a single thought at this moment, that this world was much too boring.

"Jasper!" spoke an feminine voice.

Snaping out of his stupor, Jasper turned to look at the front of the class where the voice originated, trying his best to ignore the rest of the class who turned to look at him, the kid who got yelled at by his teacher.

"Don't you think you should be paying attention after our talk last week" inquired the teacher with long wavy red hair and a rather pristine face.

"Sorry Ms. Sophia, I just saw a kid fall outside" Jasper stood up and said with straight face, his ease of lying being enough to impress any spy, Jasper himself seeming as if he believed his own story.

"So that's why you have been looking outside for the past half hour?" The teacher asked with a hint of amusement in her voice, gaining a snicker throughout the classroom.

"sorry" Jasper once again replied although much more meekly then the first time, siting quietly back down into his chair. If one was paying close attention they could see a slight frown appear one the otherwise flawless face of Ms. Sophia. However before he could begin to focus on the subject Ms. West was teaching he could see a creature like thing leaning over to him.

"Oooo a private meeting with Ms. Sophia West, I'm jealous" said a tad nerdy teen with dark brown hair and glasses while snickering.

"That's gross Toby" Jasper replied with a groan hiding his grin expression on his face with his hand. Toby had been one of Jaspers closest friends since childhood, and luckily for Toby but unluckily for Jasper he had been seated right next to him. However his words this time seemed to nag at his heart.

Ignoring his friend Jasper went back to listening to his teachers lecture. An hour passed by in what felt like a life time, all the while zoning in and out of attention.

A bell rung and with a sigh he stood and quickly grabbed his bag heading for the door but before he could head out the door a familiar hand softly grabbed his shoulder.

"Jasper stay back with me for a bit, will you"

Ms. Sophia said with a strange smile.

not even nodding to acknowledge her Jasper went back to his seat with a fearful expression. Toby glanced at him with pity in his eyes, silently praying for his friend who he thought would be given a stern lecture.

A few minutes and everyone had left the classroom, however his teacher waited for a bit longer before approaching him.

Sophia glanced at the window leading into the hallway before walking over to Jasper. A crazed glint flashing through her eyes as she walked over, stopping right behind him.

"One would think you hate me jasper, do you?" She asked wrapping her arms around his shoulders and chest.

"Of course, not" he replied in a husk voice which betrayed his seemingly blank expression.

Silence filled the room for a moment, Sophia leaned her head on his shoulder before saying the words that have been tormenting his school life for the past month.

"You know I love you Jasper" the crazed lady said while pressing her chest against his back.

As if seeing a ghost Jasper seemingly turned into a statue, not even breathing for the next few seconds. Seeing this Sophia made a click with her tongue before releasing the boy from her grasp.

"alright you can go now" she said with sadness while walking to the door.

Jasper only moved once she left, he walked trough the already empty hallways and made it to the door down the the uniquely spiraled staircase, all while carrying a trembling blank expression.

Passing by his schools gates Jasper spotted a familiar face waving at him along with 3 other girls.

"Jasper, do you want to hang out with us tonight, we were thinking of going bowling" Toby grinned at him.

"Sorry Toby I, need to do something tonight, have fun" Jasper replied before turning to the right of them and running off.

"Tch, he always blows us off these days" one of the girls said.

" Ms. Sophia probably yelled at him a lot, he must not be feeling well right now" Toby reasoned to the annoyed girl. Concern filled his heart when remembering Jaspers expression. It was always bad when he returned from a talk with Ms. Sophia but this time seemed worse. He tried to cheer him up today by hanging out with him but it seemed like something serious had happened.

'I'll make sure to call him later'

...

After crossing a turn on the way to his house, Jasper felt something wet trail down his cheek. it seemed that this was all too much for him to hide away, he made a turn and sped down a old road away from his home and deeper into the woods.

Eventually he made it to an entrance of a trail he always went to when he was younger, climbing higher and higher up the small mountain as tears streamed down his face, passing maple branches as they clawed back at him, leaving a few small scratches across his face and hands, that of which he paid no note of.

Finally making onto the top he found the clearing he was looking for, overlooking the edge of the city that slowly transitioned into the suburbs he lived in. Jasper curled up onto the soft grass in the middle of the clearing and it was as if something finally broke within him, letting out a torrent of tears and small wails.

Time passed by for a while and he finally stopped crying, staying in his fetal position for an hour as if he became one with the forest around him.

BRR, BRR,

Jaspers phone rang out, breaking the dreadful silence that filled the clearing. A lone light of hope in the miserable thoughts that swallowed his mind, but ignoring that light he let the phone ring and soon that dark silence filled the clearing once more.

Eventually he crawled dangerously close to the edge of the clearing and onto the overlook and let his legs dangle lifelessly in the fierce wind as he lay on his back and watched stars fade into existence as the sun set behind the horizon. A otherwise beautiful sight that would fill most with inspiration, but Jasper was trapped in his mind. He sat there for another moment in silence before finally muttering the words that gnawed at his head.

"How meaningless this is"

His fractured expression returning to a blank once he said those words.

Jasper sat up and stared at the distant ground below his feet.

"This world is too little and too much" he said with his freshly blank expression crumbling down once more as he inched closer towards the edge. Jasper decided that he couldn't go any longer in this world, He found it both too boring at times and too stressful in the other. He wanted it all to go away. He did not fear death, he never had, treating death as if it would not be his end.

And while Jasper had said this phrase many times before, It seemed that today he would act on those words. however it as if something had heard his pleas a light flashed across the sky, a blinding light. Still looking down at the ground below him Jasper noticed that the time appeared to be mid day, the area around the city edge being lit up by something other then the sun. Looking up a frighting sight entered his eyes.

A giant meteor glowing a reddish orange with purple and blue hues covered a good fraction of the sky, and it was coming towards the forest in which he was in, and while the rest of the city should be relatively safe, Jasper could tell that this big of a meteor would surly blast him and the surrounding forest into dust.

At this realization Jasper couldn't help but smile at his situation.

"looks like I'll be dying either way" with those final words Jasper closed his eyes as the fiery ball of death approached him. It would seem to collide at any second now.

And yet a whole minute had passed.

Slowly opening his eyes he was almost blinded, slamming shut his eyes once more. But as time still passed by and him still being alive Jasper couldn't help but think he was dreaming. Turning away from the blazing heat Infront of him Jasper opened his eyes for good this time and slowly turned around to face the meteor. A magical sight filled his view. it appeared as if time had been paused. His once fated death lay stuck in the sky just a hundred meters above him.

Jasper was stuck looking at this sight, this stare off lasted around three minutes before he snapped out of his shock that of which seemed to put his mortal dilemma at bay. Pulling out his phone he snapped the most clear pictures he could of the anomaly with his old phone and decided to go back home in fear of being pulled in by the government for questioning, but before he could race off home runic letters appeared within his vision, seemingly strung from golden light with the last runes ever changing. This made him blank out in surprise.

While he only knew to speak one language Jasper could somehow understand the alien words in front of him.

The words which hinted at the end of days.
