The lights were still dim, but for nighttime, they were quite bright. The further she walked, the more frightened she felt, so she started to jog. Occasionally, she glanced back, only to realize that it was just her imagination—there was no one following her. Finally, she was nearing the corner, and just around it was the stairway, allowing her heart to relax a little.
"You really know how to scare yourself," Jennifer thought to herself, reaching into her handbag for her keys. Just as she turned the corner, someone suddenly yanked her inside, and another person covered her mouth with their hand.
She wanted to scream but could only manage muffled sounds. A man's mocking voice came from beside her, "Weren't you going to call the police? Today, I'm going to make sure you can call them!"
