After saying what he needed to, the other end was met with a busy signal again. David wanted to slam the phone down but ultimately decided against it. He picked up the phone and dialed Sophie's number. "Sophie, have someone prepare a new phone for me, keeping the same number. I'm back and resting in my room. Don't prepare dinner for me tonight; I'm not hungry."
After hanging up, David felt a splitting headache. He rubbed his temples, but it did nothing to relieve his stress. Who was that person, and how could they know his every move? Was the kidnapping of Jennifer really just to exchange her for Emmeline? Why did he have the nagging feeling that this person's motives were far from simple?
