"You can't hold onto her, so let her go," Xavier said gently. "Keeping her bound to you won't do you any good; seeing her suffer won't bring you happiness either. Since you've chosen Emmeline, then let Jennifer go and give her the space to be free."
"Are you advising me to let go?" David crawled out of the water. "Don't forget that you're still Jennifer's boyfriend. Even if I break up with Jennifer, you have no right to pursue her. If you hurt Jennifer, I won't let you off easily." He still remembered that photo—the one of Jennifer hugging Xavier. Is this what jealousy feels like?
"Do you think I'm afraid of you?" Xavier replied calmly, not at all bothered by David's unusual attitude. "A woman you don't care about can't be made to be uncared for by others. And the woman you care about, others may not necessarily care about either. David, do you really understand emotions?"
