Using the walkie-talkie, Scarlett instructed Sophie at David's residence to prepare everything, while she herself hurried upstairs to inform Mrs. Sophia. To her surprise, Mrs. Sophia laughed and said, "Has that girl shown any special behavior? Insults or anything else?"
"The young mistress has been quietly enduring the basin of water. It's only natural for her to have some resentment," Scarlett replied, thinking that Mrs. Sophia should be quite pleased now. But the young mistress was ill, and there wasn't much else Mrs. Sophia could do; surely, this wasn't what she had wanted?
"And how did the young master react?" As long as David wasn't displeased, she wouldn't fear the old man's biggest tantrum. Mrs. Sophia removed her glasses and set the newspaper aside, then stood by the bed. The weather was fine today, and her mood had improved considerably. Venting all her grievances on Grace had been surprisingly satisfying.
