Jennifer held her head high and continued, "Of course!"
"Of course not. Now let me tell you what's fair. It's not fair that you spilled beer all over the entire window of my car when you had so little spit on you. Since you won't apologize, I'll have to buy you a beer."
The man finished elegantly pulling a can of beer out of his pants pocket, opening it, and then splashing it directly onto Jennifer. "You are the whole can throw over; I am now merely splashing beer." After that, the man tilted his body and threw the can with his hand. The can be accurately thrown into the trash can next to him.
Before leaving, he smiled, "I hope we never see each other again!"
Jennifer's jacket was wet, soaking into her t-shirt and skin inside. The fall temperature wasn't too low, but she felt pretty cold. And the man who had splashed him managed to smile so naturally! She wanted to shout at his departing figure, but she couldn't shout for any reason.
There was no single logical flaw to be found in everything he said, and one even had to be convinced that what he said wasn't wrong. Why would there be such a man? She was the one who had just cried in sadness. Did he not see her red and swollen eyes? Did he have no sympathy at all?
Yes, that's where he's wrong! He had no sympathy! Finding a rebuttal, she jogged up and crossed her arms to stop the man in his tracks. "Don't you think everything you say is right? It's a very wrong thing for you to bully a grieving woman!"
The man sneered a few times, "Did I bully you? If you hadn't smashed my car with a beer can, I would have stopped and waited for your apology. I would have spilled your beer if you hadn't pulled out of the car, ran to avoid responsibility, and didn't apologize when I caught up with you?" The man said that, as he surveyed Jennifer's eyes, they did look like they had been crying, but he hated the women who cried! He hated women who used their tears to gain sympathy! "And what does your sadness have to do with me? Why should I sympathize with you?"
The series of words left Jennifer dumbfounded. Why didn't she know how to retort again? Whatever, she just had to decide that he was wrong anyway. "I don't care what you say. But you can't be bothered with a woman anyway!"
"Did you forget that you called me a wild dog? Miss, is it only satisfactory to you if I call the police to report you for slander?" He was out of patience now. "Also, it's fine if you think I'm wrong. I'll pay you for the dry cleaning, but you can pay me for my car wash. One hundred dollars for dry cleaning should be enough. Washing my car usually costs me $1000, so you still owe me $800."
The man held out his palm, signaling that Jennifer should pay.
It was the first time Jennifer knew that washing a car actually cost that much. But even now, she only had $100! "I don't have any money!" She said honestly, blushing.
Jennifer put her hand down. She didn't dare look at the man's cheeks and walked quickly in the opposite direction with her head down.
The man turned to stare at Jennifer's back. This woman was weird! For some reason, he felt as if he had met a very peculiar woman today. Initially, he should have continued to tease her a bit. Still thinking about her red eyes just now, he felt compassion for a woman who had no manners and even tried to run away after the accident.
