Just as Jennifer stood up, Juliette said, "You really don't need to be so nice to her. Look at her awful temper; she won't appreciate it."
Jennifer smiled faintly, "It's nothing. I don't expect anyone to be grateful to me." No matter who it was, she would step up for them in situations like this, right? Even for Juliette, who often spoke ill of her, she would still stand up.
As the clock struck eight, her work for the day was coming to an end. With someone coming to take over her shift, she could finally head home to rest. After standing for so long, her legs felt sore. Thankfully, she could occasionally sneak a little break in the swivel chair behind the front desk; otherwise, this job would be really exhausting.
