Scarlett led her along a path across the lawn, which Jennifer guessed was a shortcut. She had to admit that the scenery of the estate was indeed beautiful. The only thing that spoiled it for her was encountering quite a few people along the way—maids and men in suits—who all bowed and greeted her respectfully. To her, this was really a damper on the experience.
After circling the lawn, it took about five minutes to reach another villa. The style of this villa was vastly different from where Mr. and Mrs. Anderson lived; one was Chinese-style, the other Western. Staring at the lush green trees all around, she asked, "Are there two villas on the estate? Why doesn't that person live with Mr. and Mrs. Anderson?"
Scarlett stopped and turned around, speaking without any emotion, "Madam should change the way you address them. It's father-in-law and mother-in-law, and the young master's name is David Anderson. You can call him whatever you like, but it's best not to use 'that person' as a substitute."
Was this a reprimand? Perhaps there were too many things she needed to be corrected on upon entering the Anderson family. "Scarlett, do I have to offer morning wine to them every day? Oh, I mean to father-in-law and mother-in-law?" In TV dramas about wealthy families, wasn't this always the case?
"Madam, please go inside and change your clothes first. The master has already ordered your clothes to be placed in the young master's room. Once you've changed, I'll have Sophie and Grace, who are in charge of the young master's daily needs, explain your daily duties to you." Scarlett's cold gaze swept towards the villa, as if implying that she had said all that needed to be said and Jennifer should follow her instructions.
Jennifer only felt a tightness in her chest. If Sophie and Grace in this villa were also like this, she didn't know how long she could endure it. When she heard Scarlett clap her hands, she was still a bit puzzled. It wasn't until a middle-aged woman and a young woman came out of the villa that she realized it was a signal.
This place was becoming increasingly bizarre. She wondered if there were secret compartments or something here, and if many young girls were imprisoned for that perverted young master to play with. Strange, her mother-in-law clearly didn't like her at all, so why did she marry into the Anderson family? And that father-in-law, it seemed finding a daughter-in-law was his idea. He appeared very kind and always acted like he was protecting her. Could it all be an act?
Led to the master bedroom on the second floor by Sophie and Grace, Jennifer was stunned. Was this really a master bedroom? It was so large it could probably accommodate a lot of people for a meeting.
"Young Madam, please change your clothes and come down for lunch. I will explain the things Scarlett mentioned while you dine," Sophie said with a face full of smiles. She didn't seem like a bad person, but her overly respectful manner made Jennifer very uncomfortable.
She gave a faint smile in return, "Okay, I'll be down shortly." As Sophie closed the door, she saw a flash of displeasure on Grace's face. Yes, it was displeasure, even deep resentment.
She had just entered the Anderson family, yet it seemed she had already offended many people. How did they really view her in their hearts? As someone who sold herself for money and thus deserved no respect? But in reality, she had been bought by them, with no sense of willingness at all.
