MeiMei loses her match, but she's able to get their babies out there and now it's just left to Izuku.
Izuku leaves his adults in the announcer's booth, a Cheshire grin on his face as he salutes to the two men and then turns around and begins his trek towards the prep room to get his babies so he can go to the opening he'll be introduced from.
CandyCane looks angry even from where Izuku can barely see him in the shadows of the hallway across. Izuku doesn't need to see the teen's face to know that something happened between his last match and this one to know that the anger is going to be taken out on him.
Fucking great . Izuku thinks, bouncing out of the hallway when Hizashi introduces him. He puts a carefree smile on his face. His smile seems to piss the CandyCane off even more because now Izuku can see a furrowed brow and anger swimming in heterochromatic eyes.
Izuku smiles brighter, yet sharper at the same time and CandyCane stutters in his sure, but quiet ( too quiet quiet quiet ) steps.
"Alright boys! You know the rules! Are you ready?" Midnight asks.
Izuku nods and chirps out a "yep!" while CandyCane nods almost sullenly. Izuku thinks CandyCane is the most confusing person he's ever met, and he's met a lot of confusing people. Like Dabi, for instance. The man says he doesn't care about his family, but Izuku knows and the man had just called him not too long ago asking for help to protect the baby brother that's in 1-A. Izuku thinks the "baby brother" is CandyCane.
It only makes sense after all. Dabi also known as Toya Todoroki, and CandyCane (Izuku can't remember his first name, but the way that Endeavor is yelling from the stands provides more evidence to the bi-colored teen being a Todoroki) have fire quirks, and a very obvious dislike for Endeavor. Or maybe Izuku's reading too far into the situation.
Who knows for sure though.
Izuku shrugs to himself and grabs his and MeiMei's flamethrower baby. It's really just a flamethrower with some added power behind it, meaning the flames shoot out stronger and faster and melt things at faster rates and the button for it is a twisty knob (he doesn't know what it's called but it twists like a volume button in a car) to adjust the power output. Izuku knows it'll work against CandyCane because of what he's seen so far. Two quirks (why else would he be split half-and-half) that are polar opposites. There's so much room for improvement with CandyCane's quirk and Izuku wants so bad to work with him, but he doesn't think it would go over well.
"Alright! Begin!"
Izuku doesn't hold back with amping up the output of fire because and ice spike heads towards him hella fucking quick. Izuku really wants to know what the max speed for the creation of those are. Kami, CandyCane's quirk would be so fun to dissect.
"Can I dissect your quirk after this?" slips from his mouth before he can stop it and CandyCane scowls deeper but doesn't deign him with an answer.
" 'Cause like your quirk? Hella dope and Nedzu, I want to know everything about it! So how about it?" He doesn't turn off the flames as he melts the ice coming for him. He gets closer by the minute, but it's hard.
"Come on dude please? I wanna see your limits and so much . I wish I could duel wield fire and ice."
CandyCane stalls in his ice making and then his scowl deepens.
"How did you know I have fire and ice?" It's suspicious and guarded. Fair, honestly. "Did Endeavor set you up to this?"
"Why the fuck would I give a shit about that shit-stain? I want to know more about your quirk because I have theories I want to test and I need you for them. And then we should probably talk about your hero costume. I've had people come up to me about it, CandyCane, and let me tell you, it's not the best design. I'm sure you're smart, but Nedzu, you were so stupid to submit that." Izuku rants as he gets closer and he drops the flamethrower (making sure to turn it off) and pulls out a small ball.
CandyCane seems to be stunned because he stops moving and it looks like he's trying to process what Izuku just said.
"CandyCane?" He asks once he gets his bearings.
"Out of my rant, that's all you got?" Izuku asks, a teasing lilt to his tone.
Izuku doesn't allow the boy to answer because he's already flicking the ball out towards CandyCane. The ball hits him square in the chest before it explodes out in a white substance, covering all of CandyCane's body. It's something he had made when he first became a vigilante, but decided not to use it because it ended up being too dangerous when it came in contact with skin.
Since he got into the support course, however, he's been able to make minor adjustments to it and now it only burns if left on skin for ten or more minutes! But overall, it makes your muscles tense up and your skin starts feeling like fire ants are biting it after just two minutes. It's a slow process and not noticeable until you're losing balance and can't move anymore.
He calls it his Taser Ball. He never said he was good with names and anyone who assumes otherwise is stupid. His vigilante name is literally Black Wolf and that's only because Kizu was there when he first saved a person and his unofficial quirk name is Yeet . So no, he's not good at names, and he never will be.
But he doesn't need a good name to make a good product. Because sure, it might be a bit unethical to make something that brings slight pain to the target, but it's effective and it only lasts until you wash it off.
Izuku watches as CandyCane doesn't even flinch until his shoulders tense and he grimaces. Izuku likes to think that means his baby is working. Slowly CandyCane starts to look more irritated then Izuku thinks he's seen all day, and then he falls to the ground with a grunt.
"Are you itchy CandyCane? I'll help you if you agree to let me test your quirk!" Izuku offers, crouching down by CandyCane's head. The boy glares up at him, hands very obviously trying to itch at himself, but with his muscles tensing and being unable to move much, he can barely reach his wrists.
"Fine." CandyCane says, continuing to glare at him. Izuku smiles brightly and waits for Midnight to call the match and then he's carefully lifting CandyCane up over his shoulder like a sack of potatoes, making sure their skin doesn't make contact and he's walking over to the arriving medi-bots. Izuku unceremoniously lays CandyCane down and follows behind the robots.
"Just strip him of his clothes and throw him in an ice cold bath for a couple minutes before rinsing him off." Izuku says to Recovery Girl when they enter the room. "He'll be good to go for the medal ceremony no problem."
"I'd ask how you know that, but knowing you, you probably tested out on either some poor soul or yourself." Recovery Girl says, huffing and taking CandyCane to the connected bathroom.
"Oh and don't let his skin or clothes come in contact with your skin!" Izuku calls after her, turning around to go find MeiMei and Toshi.
"What did you do to Todoroki?" Hitoshi asks, exasperated with his friend.
"Yes, what did you do?" Mei asks.
Neither bring up earlier's incident.
"It's a baby I made when I was younger. It used to burn a person's skin when it made contact, but since coming to UA I've been able to make more progress with it. Now it just feels like red ants are continuously biting you and your muscles tense up." Izuku explains.
"Ok, not concerning how you know the first part, at all." Hitoshi drawls. "Will he be okay for the ceremony?"
"Yup! Just a couple minutes in an ice cold bath and a good rinse, and he'll be good as new!"
"Amazing! What's it called?" Mei asks.
"Taser Ball!" Izuku exclaims.
"Why Taser Ball?" Hitoshi asks.
"I'm not good with names." Izuku pouts. Pouts . The teen whose expression is almost always a bright smile, is pouting .
"Well, let's get you ready for that ceremony!" Mei cheers.
The ceremony goes as well as it can when a support course student is the winner. People are rightfully confused, but neither Izuku or Mei care. They're just happy to get their inventions out there.
All Might's a little awkward around Izuku and it's a question for later, but for now, Hitoshi will smile for his friends' wins and ignore the eyes on the back of his head that are most definitely from Kaminari.
