Warmth. That was the first thought that crossed my mind. Warmth and softness. I was cosy, and wrapped securely in soft blankets. My body wasn't feeling cold anymore. The cold that had seeped all the way down to my bones only a short time ago was gone, and I felt warm again. I stretched out, then snuggled down further into the soft warm blankets before drifting back to sleep.

I had been sitting here in this chair for hours keeping watch over the sleeping child. To me, she was a miracle. She had beaten the odds and had survived through a blizzard while soaking wet.
In all of my years on this earth, I had never heard of a child surviving through such an ordeal. Children had gotten lost and gone missing during such weather occurrences over the years. However, all the search parties that been sent out to find them, had gone from being search and rescue missions, to body recovery missions.
