Chapter 17
The following day, Ayane woke up in a bit of an upset mood knowing that her birthday was officially over. Ayane walked out of her room after brushing the already white pearls in her mouth, and taking hot rain and suds to the body. Out of the room it seemed pretty quiet, something felt, Off. Ayane stepped closer to Sora's room and knocked before cracking open the door…
Sora was sound asleep still, which was a bit strange; she'd usually be up by 6:20 AM. Ayane sat in a chair next to her bed and gandered at her for a moment. Sora's soft breaths and subtle facial expressions when she slept made Ayane's heart falter. She decided to take a leave from Sora's room and let her rest.
"Probably so tired from all of that running around yesterday with me and Himura.." Ayane said with a gentle smile as she closed the door behind her. The dorm was pretty messy from yesterday. Ayane's birthday present wrap paper was all over the floor, along with some confetti, and torn apart boxes. Ayane started cleaning up everything that was on the floor. Just then there was a knock at the door. Ayane hastily runs to the door and opens it and is face-to-face with a person that seemed familiar.
"Do you need something ma'am?.." That's when it clicked like a television remote, she did meet this person before. It was the girl that got angry, and confronted them a couple weeks ago. It was Hinami, the girl with the forest green hair and light green eyes.
"Oh it's you.." Said Ayane with a concerned look on her face.
"Yeah that's right!" What was up with all the racket yesterday huh!?" Hinami looked just as red as a tomato, she was so angry you could see the veins popping through her forehead. Ayane didn't want to make the girl any more troubled than she already was, so she replied the best she could with a positive answer. Ayane showed her the garbage that she had picked up from the floor like a claw machine.
"I'm very sorry Hinami, it was my birthday yesterday so we were having a party," Ayane said in a polite subtle voice.
Hinami looked at her for a moment, then looked Ayane up and down with an aggressive look printed onto her face like she had committed a crime. Still giving Ayane a scornful look, Hinami crosses her arms and turns to the side letting out a slight humph as she cheeks puffed up.
"Then I guess it's fine!"
"Oh?" Ayane seemed a bit confused.
But she let it go anyway.
"If it happens again though, I'll make sure you'll pay!"
"Y-Yes will do!" Ayane said with a stutter in her vocal cords. Hinami walked away casually pouting.
Ya know for being so small she sure is mean.. Ayane thought to herself. Ayane closed the door and locked it behind her leaning up against the now closed door and let out a heavy sigh of relief that she wasn't being tormented anymore by the shortie next door.
Sora comes out of her room in two towels, one wrapped around her chest, another wrapped around her hair. Ayane looked at Sora as she walked out with her head down. Sora lifted her head to see Ayane was standing there. They both instantly both turned around and Sora made the first apology.
"Oh my goodness Sora I'm so sorry!"
"N-No no!.. It's my fault I didn't know you were awake.." Sora and Ayane's faces turned a deep crimson from ear to ear, as Sora hastily went back into her room Ayane dropped to the floor in shock. Sora leaned against her now closed door, dropped to her bottom and put her head in her hands in utter embarrassment.
"I-I'll make breakfast!" Ayane yelled, Sora gave her a reply that made Ayane's heart skip a beat.
"A-Alright love.. I'll get dressed," Ayane nearly fainted after hearing the name she was called by her crush. Ayane struggled to get to the kitchen after she stood up. She placed the pot on the stove, but she still had little to no cooking experience. So she tried her best.
. . .
A few moments later the eggs were on the pan. Ayane was still hung up on earlier. Ayane's face was steaming more than the pot was. She was so embarrassed she zoned out mid cooking and burnt an egg, but instead of putting it on Sora's plate, she put it on her own. Sora comes out of her room in a sort of plaid leggings with a black shirt with the words "I have sleep issues" on it. The pants reminded Ayane of a picnic blanket. Her hair was tied in a nice looking bun, and she was wearing a pair of black socks. As Sora sluggishly walked towards the table to sit down, Ayane appeared near the chair and helped sit Sora down.
"Oh.. Thank you very much Ayane.."
"Don't thank me," Ayane said with a sunny bright smile etched across her face.
"You look beautiful Sora," Ayane said with a huge smile. Sora blushed a little and looked at Ayane trying to look for one of many ways to compliment her. She spots that her apron was on wrong. As Ayane was cooking Sora comes up behind her and unties the apron, Ayane not being able to cock her head one hundred eighty degrees was confused. Sora's fingers managed to poke Ayane right in the rear, Ayane jumped a little with her face turning a deep crimson color. Sora quickly retracted her hands and yelped as if she were the one that got poked in the first place.
"I-I'm so sorry, you had your apron on wrong so I was trying to help!..." Sora said feeling guilty.
Ayane looked back, "No no, it's okay I promise" Ayane said smiling and giggling a bit at Sora's yelp. Sora looked at Ayane for a bit and began to laugh as well. Ayane walked over to Sora and turned around and playfully wiggled her bum.
"Well you were gonna tie it weren't you?" Ayane laughs. Sora laughs too. She grabbed both strings of cloth and tied them together tightly near Ayane's lower back. Ayane turned back around to face Sora with a smile.
"Thank you Sora."
"It's not a problem…" Just then, the kitchen had caught on fire.
"BUT THAT IS!..." Sora yelled, Ayane dashed to the stove and turned it off. Fire blowing in her face, the intense heat made her feel like she was about to explode. Sora runs into the kitchen with a fire extinguisher from the hallway and grabs Ayane by the sleeve of her shirt and pulls her aside. Sora aims the fire extinguisher directly at the fire and pulls the trigger on it. The kitchen was clouded with white smoke. A few hours later the fire department was called in by the head administrator of the College. The orange haired woman known as Mrs. Secretary scolded the two of them for being so reckless in the dorms.
. . .
Shortly after that, Ayane and Sora sat down on a bench across from their dorm watching the firemen head inside to check the damage. Once they came out they handed Mrs. Secretary the bill for the fix. Surprisingly it wasn't that expensive, well, to Sora anyway. Sora was raised in a rich family, she was also the only child. But Ayane was the one having a difficult time looking at the bill.
