Aidan approached his friends, his heart still racing from the battle. Bobby, Kitty, and Jubilee were huddled together, but when they saw him, their faces lit up with relief.
"Hey, you guys okay?" Aidan asked, his gaze sweeping over them to make sure they were unharmed.
"Yeah, we're fine," Bobby replied, a little out of breath but clearly relieved that the danger had passed. Jubilee nodded in agreement, but Kitty looked less certain, her head hanging low.
Aidan caught the look on her face and raised an eyebrow. "Kitty? You okay?"
Kitty hesitated before finally speaking, her voice tinged with disappointment. "I feel… useless. All I did was run. I didn't help at all, not like you."
Aidan frowned and quickly stepped forward, shaking his head. "Kitty, you did the right thing by running. You're not useless."
She looked up at him, her eyes showing the frustration she felt. "But I could've done something. I didn't even try…"
"Listen," Aidan interrupted gently, "you're still young. We all are. This was a dangerous situation, and getting away was the smartest thing to do. You'll get stronger, way stronger, and there'll come a time when you can stand your ground and fight. But today wasn't that day, and that's okay."
Bobby chimed in, nodding along. "Yeah, Aidan's right. You shouldn't beat yourself up. Running doesn't make you weak—it makes you smart. You've got a lot of time to grow."
Jubilee gave Kitty's shoulder a supportive squeeze. "You did what you had to, Kitty. No one here thinks any less of you for that."
Kitty sighed, her shoulders slumping slightly, but Aidan could see the weight of their words slowly sinking in. "Thanks, guys," she said quietly, still not fully convinced, but grateful for the support.
Before Aidan could say more, he heard hurried footsteps behind him. He turned just in time to see his mom, Lucy, running toward him, her face pale with worry.
"Aidan!" she cried out, wrapping him in a tight hug. "Oh, thank God you're okay!" She pulled back just enough to check him over, her eyes filled with concern. "I was so worried, sweetheart. Are you hurt? Please, tell me you're alright."
Aidan hugged her back, feeling a bit awkward from the sudden display of affection in front of his friends. "I'm fine, Mom. Really. I handled it."
Lucy's grip tightened, her worry not yet fading. "I was sick with fear, Aidan. The second I heard there was trouble…"
Storm approached with her usual calm demeanor. "He's fine, Lucy," she said reassuringly. "If anything, you should be more worried about the villain. Aidan held his own better than most would. He's the reason we didn't have more serious injuries. He's the hero of the day."
Lucy blinked in surprise, then turned back to Aidan with a proud smile. "You really did all that?"
Aidan shrugged, embarrassed. "I just did what I had to. I wasn't gonna let anyone get hurt."
Lucy hugged him tightly again, her voice soft. "I'm so proud of you, Aidan. You're so brave."
Storm smiled gently. "He really is."
....
At Xavier's School for Gifted Youngsters, the atmosphere inside the office was tense as Storm and Beast sat across from Professor Charles Xavier
"I have to admit," Charles began slowly, his fingers steepled in front of him, "I'm shocked by how well Aidan handled the situation. To face a mutant like Avalanche at his age… it's remarkable."
Storm nodded, her face serious. "His powers are incredible, Charles. He fought like someone far beyond his years—almost like a seasoned veteran. The way he controlled the wind, how he reacted under pressure… I've seen adult mutants with less command over their abilities."
Beast, standing near the window with his arms crossed, chimed in. "There's no denying the boy's potential. But it's more than that. I agree with Storm; it's not just raw power. There's something about his combat instincts, as if he's hiding a much deeper aspect of his abilities. Or perhaps… something else entirely."
Charles glanced at Beast, his expression thoughtful. "You believe he's withholding something about his mutant powers?"
Beast nodded gravely. "It's a possibility we can't ignore. His response to danger, especially his willingness to escalate the fight to lethal measures, was troubling. I know he's just a child, but he was far too quick to go for the kill. He didn't hesitate."
Charles' face darkened slightly. "Lucy and Jason Blake aren't the type to raise their children with such an instinct to kill. They've always emphasized responsibility, compassion—even when dealing with danger. For Aidan to leap to such a conclusion on his own... it's suspicious."
Storm sighed softly, leaning forward. "You think something else is influencing him? It didn't feel like he was out of control, but the decision to push things that far—it was instinctual, not out of desperation."
Charles nodded. "Yes. I believe Aidan made that decision consciously, not out of fear or panic. That's what concerns me. For someone so young, to already see killing as a solution..."
Beast added, "He's on our side, for now, and we're lucky for that. But if we don't understand where that instinct is coming from, it could lead to problems down the line. There's no telling how that mindset will develop as he grows older—and more powerful."
Storm crossed her arms, her expression conflicted. "I don't think Aidan's dangerous, not intentionally. But we need to understand more about him. Right now, all we can say is that his powers are extraordinary, and his experience in battle is far beyond that of a normal child."
Charles sighed. "Which is exactly why we need to be cautious. If this is how Aidan reacts to a single encounter with a villain, we can't assume things will stay under control. We must tread carefully, not just for his sake, but for everyone's."
There was a brief silence as they all considered the implications. Aidan had been raised well—that much was clear. But something about the boy was setting off warning bells in Charles' mind. He wasn't sure if it was simply Aidan's raw talent or if there was a hidden force behind it, but one thing was certain: Aidan Blake was no ordinary child.
"And I fear," Charles continued softly, "we have only seen the beginning of his potential. If he's capable of making such choices now, at this young age... we need to ensure that power, and the decisions that come with it, are guided by the right principles."
Storm and Beast exchanged uneasy glances. They all knew how quickly things could spiral out of control with a mutant as powerful as Aidan. For now, he was a valuable ally, but what the future held for him.....was uncertain.
....
Aidan lay back in his room, staring at the ceiling, feeling the adrenaline of the day's events slowly fade. His body was still buzzing from the battle, every muscle alive with the aftershocks of power and exertion. He hadn't expected things to escalate the way they had at the zoo, but part of him relished the challenge. The encounter with Avalanche had pushed him to the edge—further than he had ever been in his old life.
He sat up, reaching for the glowing screen that appeared in front of him as he accessed his system. The familiar interface greeted him, and he began scanning through the information, his eyes moving over the details of his level increase from the earlier mission.
[Mission Completed!
Defeat Avalanche
Rewards: 20000 EXP
Failure Condition: Death]
The sense of growth was palpable. Ever since the battle ended, he could feel it...like something deep inside him had awakened, surging forward with newfound strength.

As Aidan scanned through his stats, a grin crept across his face. His level had skyrocketed from 4 to 19, and it was hard not to feel the thrill of such rapid progress. But the 15 extra points caught his attention. He expected them from leveling up, but the uniform three-point increase in each stat puzzled him.
Just then, the system chimed in with a robotic tone, popping up to clarify.
[Stat Explanation: For every 5 levels gained, all stats increase by 1. You have reached levels 5, 10, and 15, resulting in a total increase of 3 points to each stat.]
Aidan blinked, satisfied with the explanation. His stats—strength, agility, endurance, magic, resistance, and even charm—had all jumped nicely. Then he noticed something else: his Sky Dragon Slayer affinity had shot up from 21% to 38%, and even his Iron affinity had climbed from 4% to 10%.
The system chimed again
[Sky Affinity Increase: Due to proficient usage of Sky Dragon Slayer Magic in combat, Sky affinity has risen to 38%.]
[Iron Affinity Increase: Battle endurance contributed to a rise in Iron affinity to 10%.]
Aidan sat back, letting the numbers sink in as he pondered how best to distribute his extra points. With 15 at his disposal, he knew where to invest to sharpen his skills.
He placed five points into Strength, feeling a surge of power. Next, he allocated three points into Agility, ensuring he'd be faster and more nimble in future battles. Then, he funneled five points into Magic, boosting his ability to wield more powerful spells. Finally, two points went to Resistance, rounding out his defensive capabilities.
