Chapter 4 - Chapter 3 : NEBULA

The Atmosphere in the military barracks was tense as the chief military officer and the other officers gathered to discuss the "Unknown Creature" plague that threatened the city.

"We can't fight what we do not comprehend" asserted one board member, voicing a sentiment shared by many.

Mr. Greg interjected, his voiced edged with urgency, "People are dying....And people will continue to lose their lives if we do nothing. I say we should deploy our military forces as soon as possible."

The first board member, however, offered a sobering counterpoint, addressing Mr. Greg directly, "Mr. Greg, I understand your fears, especially with your family still in the affected city. My family didn't make it out in time either.

However, allowing personal emotions to influence our decisions in this critical situation could have dire consequences. We must consider the safety of all citizens, not just those close to us.

Proceeding without a clear understanding of the threat could lead to unnecessary risks and potential loss of life for everyone involved."

Nods of agreement rippled through the room but doubts lingered. "How will we gather footages of these creatures? queried one member.

"Drones?" Suggested one cautiously, but the reminder of past failures dampened the optimism.

"Last time, they were triggered by the drones. We do not want provoke them further and put our citizens in harm's way."

A glimmer of hope crossed the chief military officer's face. "What if those creatures don't hear or see the drones?"

Puzzled expressions met his suggestion. With resolve , the chief officer reached for his communication device. "Release NEBULA", he commanded, setting the wheels of their plan in motion.

As the discussion intensified, a hologram display from the device implanted in the table materialized, projecting a live feed of the deployment of the "NEBULA" drones.

The chief military officer swiftly issued a command in his communicator "activate stealth mode" .

Instantly, the hovering drones seamlessly blended into the darkened skyline, ready to observe without detection.

The board members leaned in, their faces etched with a mixture of curiosity and dread, as the hologram displayed footages the menacing creatures plaguing the city.

A sense of unease settled over the room, punctuated by the gasps and murmurs of those witnessing the creatures for the first time.

One of the board members, visibly shaken, demanded answers "what in the actual **** are those creatures?"

Without hesitation, the chief military officer issued another command "Get doc doc here now!

He needs to see this" realizing the urgency of the situation and the need for expert analysis.

As Doc Doc entered the room, his eyes lit up with curiosity as he gazed upon the holographic images of the mysterious creatures. "Fascinating," he murmured, his voice tinged with a mixture of awe and apprehension.

"I've never seen anything quite like this!"

With meticulous precision, Doc Doc scrutinized the images, his brow furrowing in deep concentration. "It's peculiar", he mused aloud.

"There is something oddly familiar about these creatures"

Sensing the urgency in the room, Doc Doc reassured the group, "give me sometime. I need to verify something."

With swift motion, he transferred the images to his wristwatch and rushed off to his lab.

In the confines of his laboratory, Doc Doc hastily uploaded the images to his computer, eager to uncover the truth behind these enigmatic beings.

"Gail, what are they?" he queried, addressing his trusty AI companion.

Gail responds with a concise yet informative overview.

"Based on the visual data available, these creatures exhibit characteristics indicative of genetic mutations.

Their physiology suggests enhanced strength, agility and predatory instincts. Their skin composition appears resilient, potentially offering protection against conventional weaponry.

However, further analysis is required to ascertain their specific vulnerabilities and potential weaknesses.

Doc Doc questioned "mutations, enhanced strength and agility but how?"

Gail responded " the available data does not afford conclusive insights into the queried matter.

To refine my analysis and furnish a comprehensive response, acquisition of physical specimens - hair, blood samples, or segments of their dermal tissue (skin) is imperative.

Only with access to such materials can I conduct the requisite assessment to offer a detailed Elucidation on their true nature and genesis."

Doc Doc nodded "you are very right! If we are gonna help them best these creatures, we'll need some more materials!"

As Gail continued to scan through the images, Doc Doc's gaze returned to the images on his screen "Do you know what frightens me, Gail?"

He sighed....

The realization that I've seen these creatures before, somewhere in my past but where?"
