Everyone in the room was shocked, including Julius.
"Light. But the curse of darkness blocks all light-related magic," Margaret said, and the woman in front of her nodded.
"No, there must be a way," Julius mumbled as he thought hard.
Light was the worst element to have during this time as the darkness blocked the abilities of light. The element of light was useless in this era.
'No, there must be a way to still control elemental magic.' Julius thought hard, and then when no answer came to his mind, he turned around and walked away.
"Ugh..." Julius groaned in frustration.
Sasha saw him walking away and decided to leave him to himself for now. Magic was a means to grow stronger. With magic, a world of new possibilities was open to a person.
"Why would the world give him magic if it wouldn't work?" The woman pondered hard, and Margaret stood up.
"Thank you for coming here, Fiona," she said with a smile, and the magician smiled.
"Of course."
...
Julius walked back to his room and sat on the ground. He lay back on the cold ground and stared at the ceiling.
'All my plans are just wasted... Without magic, there's no way I can save this new life I have.' Julius thought, and then he heard a sudden rumble coming from beside him.
He looked to his side and saw the strange golden egg, which had weird patterns on it. The mark behind his palm suddenly glowed brightly, and the egg cracked.
'It's hatching!' Julius was shocked; he didn't expect this weird egg to hatch anytime soon.
He got into a meditative position and sat the egg on his lap. He then closed his eyes and focused on the strange sensation he felt coming from his hand, where the bond mark was.
He suddenly felt energy being sucked out of him, and he gritted his teeth as the egg took his available mana.
Soon, it stopped, and Julius finally took a breath.
"It's good that I also read about hatching a beast egg. It wasn't that hard, though." Julius sat up and looked at the egg. It cracked open, and a small creature popped out.
It looked like a baby wolf, with golden-colored fur and little horns poking out of its head.
It crawled out and rolled on top of Julius, who wondered what this creature was.
[Name: None]
[Race: Lycanaur]
[Level: Tier 1]
[Bloodline rank: Celestial]
[A creature blessed by light. The Lycanaur race once stood at the pinnacle of this world; however, they vanished one day, leaving a single egg behind.]
Julius frowned as he saw the information on the creature, and he cleaned his eyes as he stared at the bloodline rank.
The ranks of bloodlines were the same used for magical tools: Common, Mana, Earth, Heaven, Legendary, Divine, Mythical, Celestial.
'Even the mountain falcon is said to be a Heaven grade beast, reaching tier 7 when it matures. However, one at the Celestial grade, at maturity, can even surpass tier 9 level beasts...' Julius was in pure shock. The cub looked at him and then yawned and curled up on his lap.
'Lycanaur, I'm not familiar with the creature's origins. I better check the library.' Julius thought, and then he carried the creature in his hands and put it on the bed before he left the room.
'It seems like a bond was formed between me and that creature. It even seems better than that mountain falcon egg that I got,' he thought.
After going downstairs, Julius entered a large brown door, and then he found himself in a vast library. There were rows and rows of books arranged all over. The shelves were long and seemingly never-ending.
"This is going to take a while." Julius had a bitter smile on his face.
Over the next few hours, Julius stayed at the library, looking for books with knowledge of the creatures of this world.
He came across a particular old one that had the symbol of a wolf on it.
'This one contains details on celestial and mythical beasts!' Julius quickly began to flip the pages as he looked for information on the mysterious creature in his room.
'Found it.' Julius smiled as he finally saw a volume dedicated to the Lycanaur.
Julius stayed at the library, reading everything he could find on the Lycanaur, and then he stumbled upon some information.
'The Lycanaur are creatures of light, having inner light of their own and not needing light from the sun to grow. This means...' Julius' hands trembled as he smiled happily.
"Haha, there's a chance for me after all," he said with a happy laugh.
As he was bonded to a creature with inner light, he could use it as a source to cast his magic. As long as the creature was close to him, he could use elemental magic.
"Could it all be a coincidence? That the creature formed a bond with me before I awakened my magic. Or could it be the cause of why I awakened light as an element?" Julius wondered.
Amongst all the information he read about the Lycanaur, he didn't see anything concerning bonding with humans. It was even stated that the Lycanaur lived in isolation and rarely met humans.
'I can't help but wonder why the Lycanaur suddenly disappeared and why they left this egg on a mountain surrounded by magical fog.'
Alas, Julius could only put his curiosity on hold. At least he would be able to control his element now.
"Hm... There's no book on the light element that can guide me, strange."
No matter how much he looked, he didn't find a single book on the light element, which showed how rarely someone awakened light.
"If there's a place where I can learn about my magic abilities, it'll be at Midgard Academy." Julius strengthened his resolve.
He stood up from the ground floor and made his way back to his room with a smile.
