Ella wanted to speak, but as she opened her mouth, not a single word came out. It was as if her neural system had been frozen, leaving her unable to control her body.
Ella sprang to her feet, overwhelmed by shock and fear. This wasn't the first time this had happened. Sometimes, when she woke up in the middle of the night and saw Eric going to the bathroom, she'd try to greet him, only to find herself unable to speak.
