Chapter 3 - Beyond the room

Before leaving his room, he decided to take a look at the street from his window.

Halfway to the window, he stumbled on the floor.

"Ouch, I forgot I'm not used to walking yet."

With this thought, Jack got up and continued on his way, staggering.

He reached his window, and since their house had three floors and his room was on the third floor, it gave him a better view of the streets, which seemed a bit distant from their house. He could only glimpse the commercial and residential buildings, which seemed to retain traditional architectural details. The largest buildings appeared to be two to three stories high. Jack could clearly see only the exterior garden of their house, which had a wide green space and four wooden benches facing each other, along with the house's gate.

"Hmm, I guess my father is somewhat wealthy. I never thought I'd escape the curse of poverty by dying."

After five minutes of hesitation about whether he should leave his room or not...

"I mean, what if I open the door and see unknown creatures or monsters? After all, I don't know anything about this damned world," Jack thought.

He didn't receive memories of his home and world from Edward. What he got could be summarized in the names, ages, appearances of his family, and their jobs...

"Screw it, I'm going out. What's the worst that could happen? Monsters kill me? I've already killed myself with my own hands. Haha."

Gathering his courage, Jack went to his room door and grabbed the handle.

The first thing that met his eyes when he opened it was a long hallway with a decorated wooden floor that at first glance looked like glass. Ahead were his sister's room, a toilet, a bathroom, an attic on the roof, and stairs leading to the second floor, where Edward's parents' room was located, who for some reason weren't in the house, and the first floor where the guest room, living room, and kitchen were

The first floor was luxurious, with an area of about 80 square meters. The first thing you encounter when going down to the first floor is a large decorative golden chandelier hanging from the ceiling, consisting of several arms holding lit lamps. Large windows allowed plenty of natural light, making the first floor appear more spacious and brighter. In the middle of the floor, there was a large table with eight chairs and a big sofa facing a small-screen TV, and an 18-meter-wide kitchen on the side.

After admiring the first floor, Jack returned to the third floor and checked the attic. He brought the ladder and climbed into what seemed to be a half-meter-wide opening. When he entered and turned on the lights, he found a small desk and a rickety wooden chair, along with a large bookshelf. For a moment, he thought he was in an online book store.

"What the hell, who puts a library in the attic? Great, it looks like I'm in a family of crazies."

He headed to the bookshelf and began browsing. What caught his attention was that the language used in this world wasn't English, but he understood it perfectly.

"I guess this is probably due to Edward's memories residing somewhere in my subconscious, or maybe something even stranger."

Jack didn't pay much attention to this, as recently, especially since he woke up two hours ago, nothing made sense to him. So, he grabbed a notebook and a pen from the drawer of the adjacent desk and continued browsing the books, writing down basic information about the history of the world he found himself in.

After two hours, Jack concluded that his current world resembled his old one in shape but differed in content. It consisted of five continents divided into east, west, south, and north. Each continent was characterized by an "empire" system, meaning that in each continent there were 10 politically independent countries but they were under the rule of one person, the "emperor," who seemed to be at the top of the hierarchy, followed by the "nobles," who were his children and relatives, and third came the "knights," which was Edward's father's rank, serving the emperor primarily and the nobles secondly. At the bottom of the hierarchy were the commoners, including craftsmen, workers, and citizens...

"Great, I'm revived in a world with a ruling system similar to that of the Romans in the first century and an atmosphere resembling Europe in the nineties. And the books say we live in the year 1300 AD," Jack thought, holding his head in a dramatic way.

"Damn, it looks like I really hit my head hard when I tried to commit suicide."

Jack kept joking to himself repeatedly, not because he was trivial, but to relieve his mind and avoid madness due to his dire situation. His jokes acted as a sedative for his mind, although if you got closer to him while he was reading the history of his current world, you'd hear the sound of drums coming from his chest.

Overall, the continent where Jack was currently located was Intasia, in the north, specifically in the state of Avirma, in the northeast of Intasia.

The second continent was Angria, in the east of the world, southeast of Intasia.

The third continent was Gridonia, in the west of the world, southwest of Intasia.

The fourth continent was Erewon, in the south of the world, south of Intasia.

The strange thing was that the fifth continent was still unexplored, located in the center of the four continents, in the middle of the ocean. It was said that in the past twenty years, the rulers of the four continents discovered its exact location, but none had ordered an expedition to explore it....

This piqued Jack's interest, and he wanted to know more, but he heard the sound of the door unlocking and thought it was his family, so he quickly returned to his room and decided to change out of his pajamas to greet his family.

"I mean, I should make a good impression for the first meeting with the family... who have been living with their son for 18 years."

He went to Edward's closet and prayed to the god that he wouldn't find dresses in it.

Opening the closet, he found many shirts of famous bands from that period, a lot of popular sports shoes, and pants in all colors and weird shapes.

"Huh, if you were my friend, Edward, I'd shove these pants up your ass, trust me," Jack thought, smiling.

He looked away from the pants and glanced to the left side of the closet to find his savior.

There was a complete black suit consisting of a jacket, pants, a tie, leather shoes, and a belt matching the suit's black color, even accessories like a pocket square for the upper jacket pocket and cufflinks. It looked new and worn only once.

Jack quickly changed into the black suit, as if afraid it would disappear if he didn't put it on quickly. After finishing, he looked in the mirror and liked what he saw.

"Damn, I look handsome, not as beautiful as Olivia, of course, but very handsome compared to ordinary people."

He finished his preparations and went down to the first floor, where he heard the conversation of about four people.

The first person Jack noticed was Emilia, Edward's mother, who was 44 years old and looked like the original version of his sister Olivia, but with a few wrinkles on her cheeks.

"So this is my mom in this life. Hmm, no matter how beautiful she is, she can't compare to my original mom," Jack murmured to himself.

As Jack remembered his mother and his past, a cold and harsh aura surrounded him. With his steady and commanding steps, the black suit he was wearing, and his chiseled masculine face, he looked like a demon resurrected from hell to take revenge on his enemies.

Jack moved his eyes away from his mother and looked at Taylor, Edward's father, a man in his fifties. He carried an air of authority and confidence, which seemed to follow him wherever he went. He resembled Edward a bit, but the differences included black hair mixed with some white, sharper eyes than Edward's, a solid body, and a height of around 190 cm.

Jack looked at the remaining two people, who seemed to be his aunt Maria, two years older than Emilia, with an unexpectedly average appearance. I mean, to ordinary people, she would seem beautiful, but when placed next to Emilia, she looked less than average...

Opposite her on the first-floor sofa was her son James, who was 18 years old. He had an air of a mystery-seeking scholar, with round glasses, blue eyes, and brown hair. His back had a slight curvature, indicating prolonged sitting on a desk chair, and a modest height of about 175 cm...

The four present showed great astonishment, even Taylor, Edward's father, looked at Jack with a bit of disbelief. The most astonished was his mother, Emilia, who kept staring at him without saying a word, and the same applied to the other three. These looks created an awkward atmosphere.

Jack, feeling nervous from his family's surprised looks, raised his hands to the back of his head and said:

"Hi mom, I couldn't find my dress today, so I decided to wear the suit."
