Three hours later, Lian ensured that Lisa was settled comfortably in the back seat of the new car that his driver had fetched from his house.
Its tinted windows provided a sense of privacy and security that was very much needed after the eventful evening neither of them had anticipated.
"I've called for extra security," Lian informed Lisa, his voice steady but with an undercurrent of tension.
"Some will accompany us on our journey and others will be at the house when we arrive." He added and surprisingly, Lisa snuggled up closer to him.
"Good." She replied, her exhaustion evident but her spirit unbroken as Lian wrapped his arms around her protectively, quite enjoying the closeness.
