Chapter 3 - Chapter Three

As a kid, Bianca had always seen herself as an unromantic person. She absolutely despised all Nora Robert's books and only read erotica because she couldn't find a way to watch porn without her parents finding out. She had always felt people who said their love was at "first sight" were either psychotic or just really wanted to have sex with each other and blamed it on love. But at this moment, Bianca realized she was experiencing what she had doubted all her life, and she immediately felt sorry for ever doubting those people. The boy -masterpiece more like it- stepped out of the office with a smile and a mischievous twinkle in his eyes. He had a jawline that could slice through iron and had on glasses with extra thick lenses -finally, a good-looking guy with obvious flaws- He had the darkest hair she had ever seen that seemed to blend into the dark mahogany office door. He looked to be about 6'4 and had on a white long-sleeved shirt and cargo pants. He caught her eyes and smiled. In that moment, she realized she'd want her kids to have those perfect dentitions. "I'd like you to meet my son, Gabriel." He stretched out his hand to shake her. She couldn't stop staring at him but soon caught herself and took his hand. "Hello, I'm Bianca, so you're the son of the man who almost killed me?" He scrunched up his face in confusion and looked at his father. " She's the young lady I told you I had a run-in with when I was on my way to the airport."

"Oh, sorry about that," Gabriel said. Now that she'd had a closer look at the two, she noticed the resemblance, same jawline, dentition, and handsomeness, but the son definitely had a more age-appropriate appeal. Susan came out of the office. "Oh, there you are, Bianca. I see you've met Gabriel. The two of you applied for the same job, and since we need all the help we can get here, I've decided to hire the two of you. You will both be assisting around the office." Bianca shrugged her shoulders. " fine by me." She walked off with Susan but kept her eyes on Gabriel as he said goodbye to his dad. She took a quick glimpse at his dad's ass, and she had to admit father and son were extremely hot, but there was just something about Gabriel she felt drawn to.

He caught up with her and Sarah. " Seems like you and your dad are really close, " she said. "Yeah, it has been him and I since my mom died when I was little." He said, looking at his feet. "I'm sorry for your loss. You must have really loved her," she said, feeling stupid for bringing it up. " I do, sometimes I think I can still hear her voice even though I barely remember what she looked like." "You dont have a picture of her, " She asked with a shocked look on her face. "There was a fire when I was younger, and we lost a lot of things, including family pictures and important documents. We had to leave and start all over again. Sorry for dumping all this info on you. I rarely get to talk, but when I do, it's like words can't stop pouring out of my mouth," He said, running his hands through his hair. He really was a beautiful work of art. "Here I am, yapping about my life when the only thing I know about you is your first name." Before she could answer, Susan announced.

"We're here. You'll be answering to Dan from now on; do whatever he says," Susan said as she walked off to speak to Jenny. Dan walked towards them with a smile on his mouse-like face. "Hey guys, welcome on board. Since it's your first day, I'll ease you guys into it. We have a few artifacts being delivered from a sponsor, so we have to make sure the warehouse is cleared out before they arrive, and that's where the both of you come in. All you need to do is throw away the boxes of already opened antiques, and if there are any unopened boxes, move them behind the stairs. You got that." They both nodded.

"Great, now follow me." They descended the stairs with Dan in the lead. Bianca followed closely behind Gabriel and couldn't help staring at his hair. She noticed a tattoo on his neck that looked like Egyptian hieroglyphics, but she couldn't fully see it.

Once they were down in the warehouse, they began opening boxes and throwing some out. "You still haven't told me much about yourself, and since we'll be down here for a while, I suggest you keep me entertained so I dont leave you to do all the work while I slack off, " he said with a smirk as he moved towards some boxes.

She crossed her arms and frowned at him. " You wouldn't dare." He laughed at her and bent to pick up another box. She stared at his butt as he bent before shaking her head to clear her thoughts. She turned around and moved some empty boxes around. " I was born in London, but I decided to take a year off before going to college." He turned to face her. " And you decided to come here? He asked, "Why didn't you intern at the National Museum in Britain?"

"FYI, I did intern there and almost got a permanent gig, but I wanted to try out other places. Plus, I'm a sucker for Egyptian Mythology, and Wyoming Museum has the largest archive of Egyptian artifacts and antiques." She smiled at him and walked closer. " I see you're also a fan. I saw a hieroglyphic tattoo on your neck. What's that about?"

He smiled sexily. "So you're checking out my neck now, Bianca. I guess I'm free to check yours, too." Bianca went red with embarrassment. "You were right in front of me. There wasn't anywhere else to look." He winked at her. "Sure, there wasn't."

She turned away and walked to the end of the room, picking up plastic covers. She could here him chuckling behind her. "I got the tattoo after a digging gig in Egypt," He explained. "I was on a tour with a group of archeologist to discover how the Egyptians of old set up their irrigation system. Halfway through, we stumbled upon a burial chamber. One moment, we were digging, and the next we fell through the ground and stumbled into this chamber with golden walls. We walked in, and I remember the room getting really cold, and I could hear growling coming from deep inside. All I remember was hearing screams and seeing glowing golden eyes before passing out. When I woke up, I was back in the sandy desert with the crew like nothing happened. I remembered the hieroglyphics I saw on the walls, so I had them tattooed on my body so I'd never forget." He had a faraway look on his face as he spoke.

Bianca was so enveloped in his story she didn't realize she had been slowly walking towards him as he spoke. By the end of ther story she was inches apart from him staring closely at the tattoo on his neck. "Have you tried reading it or getting an expert's opinion on the meaning?" She asked. "I've spoken to every archivist and hieroglyphologist I could reach. None of them had ever seen anything like it. We went back to the spot later, but it was a dead end. It's largely one of the reasons I'm interning here," He spoke, lifting a box and moving it towards the staircase. "I'm trying to get more information on hieroglyphics and this seems like the best place to start." He turned towards her and smiled shyly. "Well, that's pretty much my whole story" Bianca couldn't help staring at him, it was like listening to a story from a book. She knew many ancient stories and mythology had happened in real life, but it was weird hearing it from someone you know. She wasn't prone to believing superstitious stories, but all her life, Bianca always had a feeling there was more to life. After watching her grandma die and feeling an eerie but comforting presence afterwards she knew something was different. Bianca didn't believe in ghost stories, but her past experiences and Gabriel's story set her on edge.

After packing the boxes, they went back up to talk to Dan who told them it was time for their lunch break. "I'm heading to the sandwich shop down the road. Do you want to come eat with me?" Gabriel said. She would have jumped at the opportunity, seeing how she was poorer than a church rat, but Bianca didn't want to give off a bad first impression. Maybe tomorrow

"No thanks," she declined. " I brought my lunch with me. I'll find somewhere to sit in the breakroom and read my emails."

"Ok," he said as he walked off. Bianca strolled towards the breakroom and was overjoyed when she saw a box of stale donuts on the table with nobody around. She swiped a piece and munched on it while she scrolled through her phone, but she couldn't get Gabriel's story out of her head. All her life she had always read stories of people getting abducted by aliens, she even had a classmate who swore she saw a ghost one time and some Christians talking about seeing heaven - which she hardly believed being a core catholic herself- but this felt different. She wondered where he went to when he fell into the chamber. Could he have gone back in time? Did he see something there? Or did he just take a hard tumble and imagine everything? She thought back to the tattoo she saw and tried picturing all the symbols in her mind. There was one in particular that stuck out to her; she had seen it many times, and her obsession with Egyptian mythology meant she knew exactly what it was. It was the one Egyptian god she was obsessed with. She was sure of it. It was the symbol of Wepwawet, the Egyptian god of wolves.
