Chapter 20 - Twisted game

CHLOE'S POV

Raphael was leaned over the counter, one

leg crossed over the other. I watched his lips move as he talked with a beautiful girl. She was dressed in a stunning red dress that stretched all the way down her knees. She was gorgeous, the way she would flip her

hair over her shoulder in a waterfall of

blonde locks. Dangling from her earlobes were a pair of diamond earrings.

Raphael looked rather immersed in his

conversation with her, laughing and grinning widely as he brushed a tendril of loose strands away from her face. I held my breath behind pursed lips, realizing I had held my gaze too long.

I was no psychology expert, but I dared

to say I could decode non-verbal communication pretty well. And based on the body language of flirting, the way the girl brushed her fingers over his hand, or the way his hand would slip up her thigh, it was evident where things were going for both of them that night.

"Do you know that there are private rooms here that you can stay in whenever you needed one?" I heard Max whisper in my ear and I frowned because right now, I was looking at Raphael and the girl making their way out and into the elevator which I guess was where the private areas were located.

Raphael didn't even glance my way again,

not even once. Not even when the both of them stood up and made their way upstairs to the rooms where couples went to get cozy and..well, why sugar coat it? They went there to fuck.

My gut turned upside down and I clenched my jaw, no matter how much I wanted to conceal my disappointment. Raphael told me not to get any ideas, and here I was, not getting any ideas. But the thought of him having sex with another woman..Okay, yes, I was a little bothered. Just thinking about it was making hot lava course through my veins.

I gritted my teeth. Jealousy wasn't usually in my repertoire, so that was really, really weird. I never really knew what being jealous felt like, but now it was like fire scorching at my insides. I hated it.

My hand tightened around my glass. I stood up, earning a soft gasp from Max.

"Let's go upstairs." I breathed out, grabbing him by the wrist and pulling him upwards.

"What?" he was perplexed.

"Let's go upstairs to one of the rooms" I insisted, trying not to sound as nervous as I was.

"But.."

"Please..."

"Okay. I'll just tell Raphael

"But he's gone" I muttered. "Maybe he's really busy. We shouldn't have bothered him in the first place."

"Fine, let's go." Max said after some long seconds, and shadowed me as I swayed throughout the crowd of people.

We reached the elevator and the moment the doors closed, I practically jumped at him, wrapping my arms around him hungrily. He kissed me back eagerly, his hands grabbing at my ass as he pinned me at the glass wall.

I was glad he didn't stop me or question me about why I was being so forward and impatient. I just wanted to turn off my mind and forget about everything. Forget about Raphael and that stupid girl with her stupid red dress and gorgeous diamond earrings.

The elevator's door opened again and Max broke the kiss, breathlessly peering into my eyes, insatiable need glistening in his dark orbs. He wanted me and it was obvious this made me regain a little ounce of confidence at least. We advanced in the dimly lit corridor

hand in hand, our footsteps soundless on the soft red carpet. Just as we were about to turn the corner and head one of the rooms, a tall security guard towered over us, cutting us off

mid-step.

"I'm sorry but I can't let you enter," he informed us, voice cutthroat.

"Why can't we use it? We're also customers here." l explained politely, trying to break through this guy's hostile vibe.

"I'm sorry Ma'am, but this whole floor was already rented." He said. My whole face contorted in a grimace. "What?!" I fumed, frowning brows at him. "Okay then, we'll go to the next one"

"Actually, the next floor is rented by Someone, too."

I took a deep breath in, trying to keep my rage at bay. Was this on purpose? What kind of twisted game was Raphael playing?

"Chloe, let's go. We'll find another room on the upper floors." Max tried to pacify my temper.

"As a matter of fact" the hulked bodyguard interrupted. "All the rooms are rented by someone and no access is granted to anyone else but his guests."

Who does this guy think he is? This is outrageous!

"Is that so?" I sneered, stepping closer to the muscular man. "If that's the case, I would want to speak to the man personally who rented this place and ask him if he thinks that's fair to the other people who want to use the services of this bar."

"Do you have an appointment with him?"

I was seeing red now.

"No, I do not have a fucking appointment."

"Then he is unavailable at the moment."

"Chloe, let's go" Max tugged at my sleeve slightly, probably lost on to why I was so hung up on arguing with a random bodyguard."l will talk to Raphael about this."

"Mr. Moore doesn't want to be disturbed right now." the security guard dismissed us like that set my insides ablaze. I was so fucking furious I could not think straight.
