Chapter 127
Time seemed to hold as Cassius watched the portal close after Emily dragged Anastasia inside. He couldn't make sense of how close he had been to saving her. He didn't understand Aeris's scream when she saw what happened, nor did he understand how he had managed to survive until this moment. Everything around him blurred, the only thing registering in his mind was that he had lost Anastasia.
He would never see her again. No! He shook his head, fury burning through him as he struggled to stay calm. He was slowly losing control, but he needed to get out of the ocean. Yet Cassius didn't really care. Images of him and Anastasia flashed through his mind.
An animalistic growl erupted from his throat, the veins in his forehead bulging. All he could think about was that he had lost Anastasia when he was so close.
Cassius struggled, fighting to stay longer without air. But then cold arms wrapped around him, pulling him back.
