Chapter 97
Anastasia woke up feeling cold. Her skin felt like she had sat in a bath of ice for hours. She tried to move but felt an excruciating headache. Coughing, she reached out to rub her forehead. A warm cloth pressed against her forehead, seeping warmth into her skin.
Anastasia gasped, mumbling something.
"Milady?"
She slowly peeled her eyes open to see Katherine holding a washcloth.
"Milady, you are awake," Katherine whispered.
"Why do I feel so... Oh my god, where am I?"
"You are in your room," Katherine responded.
"What happened to me?" Anastasia asked, feeling strangely light as if a massive weight was lifted from her.
"You have been bleeding for days," Katherine said.
"Why? What happened?"
"Milady."
Anastasia reached for her stomach but felt no bump; it was flat. Her eyes widened, and she tried to sit up, but the pain in her abdomen was intense.
