After eating dinner with Cassius, Anastasia stood up to return to the library, but Cassius held her hand.
"Come with me."
He led her to the castle yard, and they continued walking.
"Where are you taking me?" she asked.
"To the stable," he replied. "I thought we could take an evening ride with the horse."
Her cheeks flushed at the thought, but her smile quickly faded when she saw Lucas. Memories of when she was hurting him flooded her mind, and she pressed her lips into a thin line.
Lucas's gaze met hers, and they stared at each other for a few seconds before he bowed his head.
"Anastasia?" Cassius's voice broke the silence.
She turned to see him and quickly walked over.
"What were you looking at?" he asked.
"Nothing."
They reached the stable and found an older man attending to one of the horses.
"Your Highness," the old man said, bowing his head.
