Anastasia stared at her mother lying inside the coffin. She felt neither sad nor regret that her mother was dead.
Standing next to Cassius, both dressed in black, Anastasia felt the snow falling on the long coat she wore. They were the ones who attended the burial as Anastasia had insisted she wanted the burial private. As the guard close the coffin lid, she stepped back, turning to face Cassius words.
"No final words?"
"She deserved it," she spat, her eyes burning with the thought that Nerina will come to claim her someday.
Cassius pressed a gentle kiss on her forehead.
Her anger for her mother flared again. Irina had tried sacrificing her to Nerina. There had been no pity in her eyes during their last encounter, her mother had stared at her with coldness.
