Chapter 14
"Wait!" She hurriedly said before he could sink his fangs into her skin.
His eyes flashed back to normal.
"So, what do you chose?" He asked.
"I will drink your blood," she swallowed hard, feeling her heart raced with different thoughts.
He brought his wrist closer to his mouth and he sank his fang into his skin, biting himself. Then, he drew his wrist to her mouth.
"Drink," he urged.
Anastasia took a deep breath, hesitating for a moment. She contemplated about the implications of what she was about to do. Then she leaned closer, taking a small amount of his blood into her mouth. Her lips twisted into a deep frown as she shook her head.
She felt his fingers brush against the corner of her mouth and he licked the blood from his finger with a smirk.
"All done," he said. "Now I am in need of your blood as I feel starved."
"But—"
Before she could finish her words, he swirled her around, her back merely inches away from his chest. He grasped her hair, pushing it to the side. As he leaned in, Anastasia felt a cold shiver ran down her back.
She could feel his warm breathe falling on her her skin and her stomach churn with anxiety. She felt his tongue run across her skin tongue before biting into her neck. Cassius started to feel dizzy as he sucked blood from her veins.
He didn't comsume too much of her blood this time and he pulled back. Anastasia slowly opened her eyes, turning around to stand in front of him.
"Now you won't be able to escape," he smirked.
She looked up at Cassius, his lips red with her blood.
"What is it with the frowning?" He asked.
"Am I supposed to feel happy that I have your blood in my system?" She shot back.
He smirked before walking past her, towards the cupboard to fetched the first aid box. Anastasia's mood dampened. Soon enough, she would be wrapped in different layers of bandage. When would this end? Would this end when she's dead?
No…. No, Anastasia shook her head. She needed to find a way out of here. She wasn't ready to die yet.
He brought the bandage to her neck, his touch gentle on her as he carefully laid the bandage on her skin.
"I'll ask the maids to start sewing high collar dresses," he said.
"Is that really necessary?" She asked with a sigh. "I'm going to die anyways."
"I want you to look your best and feel very comfortable before your death," he smiled. "Is there any meal that you'd plan to eat?"
She narrowed her eyes towards him.
"Write a list of the meals you'd love to eat before dying and I will ask the maid's to prepare it for you," he said before leaving the room.
Anastasia frowned, clenching her hand into a tight fist.
As Cassius reached the bottom stairs, a guard approached him.
"Your highness," the guard bowed his head. "The Elders have summoned you to the court house."
Cassius narrowed his eyes. "Is it about Lucas?"
"They didn't say anything beyond that," the guard bowed his head again.
Cassius followed the guards into the carriage and the coachman rode them away. The click of the horses stomping on the ground echoed through the science.
When they arrived at the court house, Cassius walked into the court room to see all the Elders have been gathered.
"You summoned me. Why?" He asked.
"Your highness please have a seat,'' one of the Elders spoke up.
He scanned the room before walking towards the high chair and he sat down.
"So what is the matter about?"
"The Kingdom needs a new King," one of the Elder said.
"Then we should go on with the coronation ceremony and crown me King," Cassius said.
"Not without you having a wife, Cassius," the Elder continued. "You know it is an old tradition in this Kingdom for a Prince to get married before he is crowned King."
"We want you to find a wife and get married before the month end or we would be forced to make Lucas the King," He added.
Cassius frowned slightly at their words. "How do you expect me to find a wife in two weeks?"
"That is why we called you here," the man continued. "You see, my oldest daughter, Emily, have come to a ripe age. Her mother trained her well and she would be a good wife and Queen for this Kingdom if you give her a chance."
"What?" Cassius was surprised that the Elders were going behind his back to arrange a wife for him. And he has four weeks to find a wife? How would he go about it? What if he doesn't find anyone he loves?
"Think about it Cassius," the Elder man said. "You just have two weeks left. And if you don't mind, Emily can accompany you to Woven Kingdom."
"What gives you the audacity to go behind my back to arrange a wife for me?" Cassius demanded.
"We are the Elders of this Kingdom, and we have every rights to find you a wife," the man replied. "We don't have much time. We need to bury the late King and bring the traitor for execution too."
"And what brings her into this discussion?" Cassius asked.
"She killed the King," the Elder frowned. "You have been keeping her in the tower for days. Who knows how long she will survive there before she dies?"
"That is none of your business," Cassius snapped. "It was my father who was killed and not yours. I am the one who be angry for his death and not you."
He then stood up from the chair. "I will be leaving to Woven Kingdom by next tomorrow and I don't want any woman accompanying me there."
Without waiting to hear their response, he left the court house.
