Numerology is one of the branches of astrology which focuses on various personality traits based on mere birth date. It was modified to match with the current gregorian calender. You probably wish to know a lot much about yourself and how to take actions in life, who is suitable for you etc. For this, we want the reader to first know some basic terms.
First is mūlāṅka or psychic number. The XX in your birth date XX/MM/YYYY represents your psychic number. It is from 1 to 31. In order to calculate your mūlāṅka for calculations, separate your date. For example, 14th of November is Alex's birthday. So his mūlāṅka would be calculated as 1 + 4 = 5. Psychic number must be always a single digit, and between 1 to 9. For reference, 31 would be 3 + 1 = 4, 28 would be 2 + 8 = 10 and 10 would be 1 + 0 = 1.
The second term is called Bhāgyāṅka or destiny number. This number is the sum total of all the digits of your birth date. For example, Alex was born on 14-11-2004, so his destiny number would be 1 + 4 + 1 + 1 + 2 + 0 + 0 + 4 = 13 = 1 + 3 = 4.
So Alex's two numbers or Mūlāṅka and Bhāgyāṅka are 5 and 4.
