Chapter 25 - Love Hotel I

"After almost having my day ruined by that bitch, I'm finally on a date with Eric-kun," Akari thought, blushing as she stood on the pavement.

She tried to contain her excitement, her heart racing as she waited for Eric to return after telling his father, who had come to pick him up.

After a brief moment, Eric returned, having informed his father that he'd be home late.

The two then began their detour, heading to the left side of the road—opposite from Akari's house. It was a quieter path, with fewer students taking this route, offering them a little more privacy.

'It's probably because I've got condoms in my bag, but now every quiet corner we pass looks like a perfect place to... you know,'

Akari thought, her blush deepening as her gaze drifted down the empty alleys.

'Like they say, when you're holding a hammer, everything starts to look like a nail.'

Her mind spiraled further into her own fantasies, barely able to focus on anything else.

"So, how's your brother doing these days?" Eric asked, cutting through the quiet as they walked side by side.

"Hmm? Oh, uh... he's fine. I mean, he's doing fine," Akari replied, a little flustered, as if suddenly pulled out of her own thoughts.

"I see, that's good," Eric responded.

Even in his previous life, Eric was never one for excessive talking. While he could be chatty with close friends, he was the type of person you could hang out with in comfortable silence, just sitting back and relaxing without the need for constant conversation.

And with the behavior he inherited from the original Eric, who was even less talkative than him, it made him nearly impossible to engage in small talk.

They walked through the alley, with Akari occasionally asking questions. Eric would give short replies, keeping the conversation minimal.

Despite her efforts, it was clear that he wasn't the type for idle chatter, though Akari didn't seem to mind.

As they continued walking, they soon found themselves at a cozy yatai, a small food stall bustling with life.

Several groups of people were scattered around, laughing and enjoying their meals under the soft glow of lanterns.

There were even students from other schools, all in the same grade, scattered among the crowd.

When they noticed Eric and Akari, they couldn't help but stare in awe.

The sight of the two together felt like something out of a fashion show—world-class models walking down a runway, effortlessly drawing everyone's attention.

'Hmm, looks like this place is just like it was in the game,' Eric thought, his eyes scanning the area, taking in the familiar details that matched perfectly with his memories.

Then he stared back at the system screen, his expression darkening with frustration.

'The reason I chose this route is because of that damn quest I got the moment we left school ground,'

'What the hell is up with that!?Does not need consent? What kind of person do you take me for? And why is the punishment so extreme?,'

[....

This is an antagonist system, not a Samaritan system.]

'But still, I can't just go around knocking up others just because you say so.'

[The system... does not give a fuck.]

'Fuck you!!!' Eric shouted inwardly as he rubbed his temples.

Seeing Eric's stern expression, Akari gently tugged his sleeve and asked,

"Are you feeling unwell?"

"Hmm? No, I'm fine. Sorry if I worried you," Eric said, giving her a reassuring smile.

Suddenly taken aback by his radiant smile, Akari's eyes widened in surprise, her heart racing.

"Um," she stammered, nodding with a faint blush creeping up to her ears.

'That was definitely the first time I saw him smile. It was magnificent. I feel like I've been rewarded for something so small that I did,' Akari thought.

As they continued their way, a group of three girls from another school approached them.

The girl in the middle stepped forward shyly, clutching her phone, while her two friends whispered and giggled in the background.

"Um, my name is Seiko Aizawa. Can I get a picture with you?" she asked, a blush spreading across her cheeks.

A bit surprised by the request, Eric looked over at Akari. Noticing her encouraging smile, he decided to go along with it and nodded in agreement.

'Where the heck did these bashful, squirming girls come from?

It's getting late, and I know a love hotel nearby. The last thing I need is for these distractions to mess up my plans,' Akari thought, her smile fading as soon as Eric turned away.

'Even though there's still some time left, I have no idea how to bring it up. I know a love hotel just a few turns from here, but I'm not sure how to start that conversation.' Eric was grappling with the same dilemma.
