Chapter 0 - What Happens When You Ask Scientific Questions to the Gods?

-7th Era of Heaven Realm - Year 7142

"The Heaven Realm ha. Take a deep breath and exhale slowly."

It is a place where tens of thousands of different races coexist. It hosts beings, cultures, and languages from every corner of the universe. It contains endless war and endless chaos but every time, life finds a way.

Given its continuous expansion since the dawn of time, its true size was unfathomable, even for the Abyss Wendigo, reputedly the smartest being in existence. This is evident from the way he always changes the subject whenever someone asks him about it. No sir, It's not that he can't figure it out—he is simply too busy to bother...

Despite its vastness and chaos, the Heaven Realm is full of reasons to live, stories to tell, cities to explore, and civilizations to marvel at. It's an impressive place where every conceivable possibility and figment of imagination exists.

Sometimes, while walking, you find yourself hundreds or even billions of kilometers away from home, face-to-face with a mysterious creature. Other times, you encounter forest fairies who, depending on your gender, offer either a sweet or nightmarish sexual experience.

In this realm, you can wield magic or weapons, grow stronger, receive the blessings of gods, or even open a bakery and create sweets that become popular among the deities. But this is the topic of an another story.

Heaven Realm is the combination of order, chaos and moonlight sonata. Its never calm but also always calm.

There is never any visible slaughter or destruction, but an endless hatred is hidden behind the calm and smiling faces.

Magic, martial arts, and countless creatures alike are praised, hated, used, and buried to survive.

The number of stories buried beneath the soil of the Heaven Realm is perhaps a filthy laugh that is difficult to understand apart from the gods. It is as simple as the blood flowing from the throat of a rabbit who will never know the reason for why she lived.

Everything happens, but nothing actually happens in the Heaven Realm.

..

But one day something happened that was too absurd even for the fantastical standards of the Heaven Realm.

The event took place in the city of Flametide, owned by the Anesi Family, a family renowned throughout the Heaven Realm's history.

In this Flametide City where only family members of Anesi and mortals were allowed to live inside, there was a giant citadel. And at the top of the highest tower of the Citadel, a conversation took place.

A small princess was sitting quietly on the lap of a demigod named Bewor while quitly gazing at the scenery. And everything started when she opened her mouth.

"Hey Uncle Bewor, why don't hot air and cold air mix?"

Bewor, both her protector and basic weaponry instructor, froze. He looked up at the sky, where egzotic blue and red flames and clouds mixed with the stars, and began to ponder. "Maybe I misheard? Why wouldn't hot and cold air mix? They're both just air..."

He was aware that the tiny girl in his lap, no bigger than his hand, was looking at him with shining eyes. But he couldn't appear ignorant in front of the Anesi Family princess.

He gazed at the sky as if deeply contemplating the secrets of the universe. Then, convincingly like a sage, he sighed and turned to the girl.

"When the Wind God Isra created the air, he set some rules. We can't fathom the thoughts of beings at that level, Princess."

Despite being only seven years old, the little girl compared the scene she saw last night with the sky she was seeing now. Her confusion grew, but not wanting to upset her half-giant teacher, she said nothing more. For now.

The next day, the princess was swinging a sword capable of killing third-level mutant beasts onto an adamantium training dummy. As soon as the sword practice ended, she turned around and ran to Bewor. Dropping the sword to the ground, she looked at him again with shining, curious eyes.

"Uncle Bewor, why do mortals die suddenly when they age?"

The demigod instructor, more confident this time, replied, "Because the lifespan given to them by their gods ends abruptly. Their hearts stop at random times, and their souls float up to their gods."

The little girl, the only child bearing the Anesi surname in current generation, looked at the sword on the ground, then at her teacher and protector, and finally at the things she had seen the previous night.

She didn't want to respond to her teacher, but she felt something was wrong. There had to be a mistake somewhere.

In the following days, the little princess bombarded Bewor with questions whenever she found time. Actually, she would often jump into the middle-aged giant's lap at other times too, even during meals. A giant's lap was indeed very comfortable and warm.

But contrary to the little girl's happiness, Bewor's stress level was increasing day by day. The giant, who carried a war axe as big as a horse even in his sleep, was seen entering the Anesi's Ancient Library and reading books several times. He thought he could hide his giant body and do that in secret like a ninja.

Rumors spread throughout the Anesi Clan and the surrounding areas.

It was said that, for some unknown reason, all the high-ranking individuals in Flametide, owned by the Anesi family, had started asking each other strange questions and many of them had begun visiting the city's library or bookstores.

The little princess was not only asking Bewor but also all the adults she saw, strange yet "very logical" questions.

"What is the tiniest basic element of living beings and our flesh?"

"Why are humanoids, Elementals, or the Volcano races are smarter than Monkeys, Porons, or Goblins?"

"What happens when a star explodes?"

"If magical energy is exhaustible, how is it formed in the first place?"

"When we think, what carries this thought from our heads to our fingers? Is it blood or something else?"

"How is a cloud formed?"

"Even when flame is created by magic. Why do hot and cold air, or heat in general, follow specific rules? Who made these rules?"

"What does it take to restore a burned paper from its ashes?"

"Where do babies come from?"

The soldiers, officers, Anesi Clan officials living in this city, and various demigods—everyone living in the enormous mansion at the top of Flametide—started rummaging through books, hearing increasingly difficult questions each day that required research to answer.

It was a good thing that the princess had a more powerful imagination than they thought. But the real problem was not about learning and helping the girl.

They all felt humiliated because they couldn't answer these questions or felt belittled under the princess's unsatisfied gaze.

WAIT A MINUTE, YOU COCKY AND ADORABLE PRINCESS!

I'LL DEFINITELY ANSWER YOUR NEXT QUESTION AND LEAVE YOU SPEECHLESS!!

YOU'LL LOOK AT ME WITH ADMIRATION AND JUMP WITH JOY!!!!

In short, something strange was happening, even by the chaotic standards of the Heaven Realm with its hundreds, thousands, or perhaps even tens of thousands of species.

The Anesi Clan's Ancestral Mansion, a family that had remained powerful for four Eras, known for exalting classic magic, time magic and divine weapon arts, was in turmoil.

In back streets of the city where it seemed like people were doing something illegal by lending books to each other in secret, the little princess began to sleep with a smile in the most central bedroom of the Anesi Mansion. Amid in all this chaos, she was smiling like a mischievous cute angel.

..

When her eyes closed and her breaths steadied, Abyss Sylph, the princess's shadow emerged.

She was the most powerful creature in the mansion, the city, and perhaps the region. And in day times, she would stay invisible unless something terrible happens.

Sylph wore no clothes and had a delicate, ethereal appearance.

She was floating in the air and had small breasts, a dark gray body, unnatural large eyes, and small, non-functional wings on her back.

Her body was the size of a middle school girl. Petite and childish. With her four arms and sharp teets, she was a frightening creature. A little bit egzotic, unhumanly but mostly terrific.

Despite this frightening appearance, she had a name unusual for her kind that given by the princess. Abyss Sylph of the Nether Realm was called as Cute Silvy.

She flew over the bed by flying. As she listened to the innocent murmurs of the little girl, there was a human-like peace on this dangerous Sylph's face.

She stayed in a face-down position over the girl all night, her eyes never leaving the child. She would sometimes float a little bit higher but she was mostly over one metre on princess.

In any other situation, this act might have seemed a bit perverse. But it was her job, right?

As dawn approached, the frightening demigod-level creature murmured to herself.

"Why do we dream?"

Silvy had never needed sleep nor had the ability to sleep since she was born. Her life until she became a demigod was filled with battles, blood, chaos, and betrayal.

Now, after so much time, she had been searching for an answer to this question for days, (ever since the cute princess asked her).

Hovering closer, with a mixture of envy and curiosity, she remained in the air, just five centimeters away from the small girl's angelic face. The slightest movement could make their faces touch.

"I wonder what mischievous things she's dreaming about to smile like that?"

Silvy, the purebred terror of battlefields from the Abyss Sylph Race of Nether, began to smile in a twisted way that would make onlookers flee in terror.

Her eyes never left the princess.
