Chapter 1 - READY???

If I could remember the day I was born, am sure the actual reason I cried was the gender reveal.

"It's a girl" the nurse probably smiled at my tired mother, holding tiny ugly me in her hands.

I could bet my entire Justin Bieber album collection that it was at this moment I cried.

Don't get me wrong, I love being a girl.... sometimes, it just hard, so many expectations.

"Don't walk too fast" "don't eat like that" or "dress this way". I couldn't keep up.

There say your room shows your personality and says a lot about you. Well, my room is what I call a 'Beautiful Rubbish' I have clothes everywhere and I mean everywhere. on the bed, under the bed, inside the bed, celling fan and that's not even the worst thing there.

While I was sleeping heavily like sleeping beast.

I had my speakers playing "girl like me" by Maroon 5 and Cardi B.

"ROSIA! ROSIA! ROSIA!" My mom woke me up by yelling my name from downstairs. I glanced at the clock it was 30 minutes to 7.

"SHIT" I exclaimed, I jerk off the bed carelessly and accidentally hit my toe on the pressing iron in my bed then fell.

This morning started " well " note the sarcasm. "AM DRESSING" I yelled back while still on the floor and definitely not ready for my new school.

If humans had super powers then mine is speed,am like flash younger sister. I finished taking all my morning routine very fast. Not to brag but it's a gift, I was a gold medal athlete at my old school.

No one paid me any attention as I walked down the stairs, no compliments about my new and surprisingly comfortable school uniform. It was a beautiful mix of ash color checkers printed mini skirt and white shirt along with a black vest with a ash beret, it looked beautiful on me.

I faked a cough to call their attention.

My step father said " oh, Billy ate your breakfast as your punishment for being late" he rolled his wheel chair to the sink to dump the dishes. If he cooked then am glad to skip breakfast.

"I should smack you if it wasn't illegal" that was my mum "Do you know the strings I had to pull to make you go to a school like Golden heights. Do you want to get expelled on your first day?..." Blah blah blah. It took years but I learnt how to shut her out and simply not listen.

My nine years old step brother knows how to spoil my day, he opened his little spoilt mouth and said " woah, you should not be allowed to wear that in public" he pointed at my uniform, squeezing his face sourly. I might not get the hang of being a 'proper girl' but heaven knows I rather not be a boy.

I nodded slowly "thanks for the encouraging words, family." Do anyone want to buy my family, I'll happily sale. Just kidding.

I heard my friend's car horn outside. My eyes lightened up, they are the only good thing about Golden heights academy.

"Lucky you, having Mattie and Clara there to fix your mess" Lisa, my mother name. A sassy name for a sassy woman.

I put on my headphones and walked out through the door, humming the song 'good life' by Kehlani.

Clara poke her head through the passenger side window, exposing her beautiful black hair and yelled " welcome the newest addition to Golden heights. ROSIA FREAKING WHITE" She yelled while turning up the music on Mattie's car.

Me as dramatic as my friend, I danced my way towards them, hyping myself up because I needed to, I wasn't as glad as my friends about schooling in heights but I can fake it.

Mattie just watched me as I embrass myself on the streets by attempting to break dance.

He leaned on the car, probably got tired of waiting for me in the car. He had headphones around his neck. One of the few things we all had in common was our love for music.

Mattie was my crush for a long time and you won't blame me for dreaming, he was every girl's crush, perfect hair, body, cool to those watching from afar not to us who had seen him in his lowest, drunkest and silliest moments. He was a ten over ten but that was before I met my ex and experienced true love or what I thought it was.

"Baby I don't need dollar bills to have fun tonight" Clara sang along with Sia 'cheap thrills' that lyrics is so ironic coming out of her rich ass.

"Late on the first day, Rosia" Mattie shook his head while I got into the back seat. He got into the car too. "You are not even making an effort, this is so unlike you."

We paused and turn to him, even the music stopped, great timing.

Then we burst into laughter including Mattie ""So unlike you"" I repeated laughing harder.

"Ready for Golden heights?" He asked.

I smiled "is Golden heights ready for me?"
