Chapter 138 - A Sweet Escape

After the emotional and romantic proposal at the night market, Aiko and Ryo were inseparable. They spent every possible moment together, savoring the joy of finally being in the same city and being able to see each other every day. The dynamic between them remained playful and full of teasing, which only deepened their bond.

One sunny weekend, Ryo had a special plan in mind. He invited Aiko for a day trip outside the city, to a charming little town known for its beautiful countryside and serene atmosphere. Aiko, always up for an adventure, eagerly agreed.

They took an early morning train, and the ride itself was filled with laughter and stolen kisses. Ryo had packed a picnic basket, which intrigued Aiko. "What's in there?" she asked, trying to peek inside.

"Ah, ah, ah," Ryo teased, gently pushing her back. "It's a surprise. You'll find out soon enough."

When they arrived at their destination, they were greeted by rolling hills, vibrant wildflowers, and the sweet scent of fresh air. They found a picturesque spot by a small, sparkling stream and laid out their picnic blanket. Ryo revealed an assortment of delicious homemade sandwiches, fresh fruit, and Aiko's favorite, matcha-flavored sweets.

Aiko was touched by Ryo's thoughtfulness. "You did all this for me?" she asked, her eyes wide with appreciation.

"Of course," Ryo replied, giving her a cheeky grin. "Only the best for my girl."

They spent the afternoon enjoying their picnic, chatting about everything and nothing, and playfully feeding each other bites of food. Aiko couldn't remember the last time she felt so happy and carefree.

After their meal, they decided to explore the nearby woods. They wandered along the winding paths, discovering hidden clearings and small animals scurrying about. At one point, they came across a large tree with low-hanging branches, perfect for climbing.

"Race you to the top!" Ryo challenged, already grabbing onto the first branch.

Aiko laughed and quickly followed suit. They climbed higher and higher until they reached a sturdy branch where they could sit together, overlooking the lush landscape. The view was breathtaking, and they sat in comfortable silence for a while, simply enjoying the moment.

Ryo turned to Aiko, a mischievous glint in his eyes. "You know, we haven't had a proper kiss today," he said, inching closer.

Aiko smirked, leaning in just enough to make him anticipate the kiss, then pulling back slightly. "What do you mean? We kissed on the train, remember?"

"Those don't count," Ryo insisted, his voice low and playful. "I'm talking about a real kiss."

Aiko's heart fluttered as she leaned in again, this time closing the gap between them. Their lips met in a slow, sweet kiss, filled with the promise of many more to come. The world seemed to melt away, leaving just the two of them in their little bubble of happiness.

When they finally pulled apart, Aiko rested her head on Ryo's shoulder. "I wish we could stay here forever," she murmured.

"Me too," Ryo replied, wrapping his arm around her. "But we'll make the most of the time we have."

As the sun began to set, casting a golden glow over the landscape, they climbed down from the tree and made their way back to the train station. The ride home was peaceful, with Aiko leaning against Ryo, feeling content and loved.

That night, as they parted ways at Aiko's apartment, Ryo pulled her in for one last kiss. "Sweet dreams, my love," he whispered.

"Sweet dreams," Aiko echoed, her heart full. She watched him walk away, already counting down the moments until they would be together again.
