Chapter 7 - Hope

As time went on, the realm of Zaron bustled with activity. The integration of the former demon legions proved to bolster the ranks of the Zaronian army. Training grounds echoed with the clash of steel and the roar of demon magic of all the factions who joined in support of Kael's cause, carefully monitored by Kael, Mieza, and Kael's most seasoned generals.

The demons trained, getting accustomed to advanced forms of combat under the effective training methods of Kael. The demon soldiers, in turn, became more formidable than before.

Kael and Mieza found themselves training the entire army. Kael, with his regal demeanor and deep understanding of demon magic and fighting skills, earned the grudging respect of the demon commanders of the legions of Azgor and the other faction lords who had recently joined them. Mieza, with her knowledge and spirit fostered a sense of camaraderie amongst the troops.

Meanwhile, Kyra and the council, impressed by Kael's display of power, pledged their full support.

The council chamber buzzed with renewed energy. Faction leaders pounded their fists on the obsidian tables, succubi exchanged glances. Zaron, once a realm simmering with decrepit and discontent, was becoming united in a common purpose. They united, not only for their prince, but also for themselves, and for their realm. The time had come for Kael to address his subjects.

As he strode forward, the chamber quieted. His gaze swept across the faces, searching. He saw faith etched on some faces, simmering trust on others. Beneath it all, hope resided, a flicker of recognition of the prince who embodied the very essence of Zaron.

"My loyal subjects," Kael began, his voice laced with a resonating power. "We have vanquished the first demon lord." A low murmur rippled through the chamber, like the wind rustling through newly awakened leaves.

He held up a hand, silencing the murmurs. "But it's not over yet. We may be united, but some factions are still not on our side." he continued, his voice gaining strength,"We will continue to unite until Zaron's glory is restored and no outsider, no matter their power, will invade Zaron. Not while I live."

One of the Kael's generals, General Vanak, a hulking demon with obsidian scales and horns that scraped the ceiling, stepped forward. "True words, your majesty," his voice rumbled like an approaching earthquake. "But we must mend the veil or stop the discontent factions that are not on our side from opening up more, we must also subdue these challengers. What is your command Your Majesty?"

Kael's eyes flashed, shifting colours to a fiery crimson momentarily. "We face them head-on, we unite Zaron and restore it to its former glory." he declared, his voice echoing in the chamber. "Whoever wants the throne will have to go through me first. I have fought gods to protect realms and I have emerged victorious from every battle."

A hush fell over the chamber. They had heard tales of their prince facing gods while protecting the other realms in the past. It was strangely inspiring to remember. The demons, accustomed to their prince's stoic demeanor, felt hope ignite within them. Here was their leader, not just powerful, but resolute, a symbol of both strength and worthiness.

Kael met each gaze head-on, his eyes a dangerous flicker of crimson held a hint of the power he wielded. This wasn't just a fight for his birthright; it was a bid for redemption, a chance to prove he was the ruler Zaron deserved.

Days turned into weeks as Kael and Meiza trained together relentlessly, honing their formidable abilities. They sparred in the obsidian courtyard, their movements blurring as fire danced against ice, and bolts of arcane energy crackled in the air.

As they trained, Kael noticed a subtle change in Zaron. Verdant shoots had begun to emerge all over the landscape since his return to the realm and they had grown into vibrant green stalks, swaying gently in the breeze. Flowers bloomed in shades of crimson and amethyst, their fragrance filling the air. The once-barren landscape of the realm had started transforming, mirroring Kael's return and the renewed hope blossoming within the hearts of his people.

The Zaronian sun hung low on the horizon as Kael and Mieza made their way through the dimly lit corridors of the palace.

"We have much to do," Mieza remarked, her voice echoing softly in the halls.

Kael nodded in agreement, his expression thoughtful. "Yes, we do. Even with one demon lord defeated, others will still vie for the throne. Our priority now is to unite Zaron in harmony and peace, putting an end to this. I propose we visit Kron, he's the only remaining guardian in Vasperia. I wonder how he's doing and also, protecting the realm."

Mieza nodded in agreement to his suggestion, her brows furrowed in concentration . "I wonder too. Let us go to Vasperia and see what he's up to."

Kael extended his hand and a swirl of blue and white lightning engulfed it and then a blast of the energy emerged from his hand, creating a portal to Vasperia. As they walked through the portal, they came into the guardian tower and saw Kron, the guardian and tinkerer, who was busy tinkering with a contraption of gears. He looked up, his eyes widening in surprise at the sight of them.

"Kael! Mieza!" Kron exclaimed, scrambling to his feet. "I wasn't expecting to see you back so soon."

Kael offered him a reassuring smile. "I've managed to fix things, though not everything and I've gather allies so we can restore order to Zaron."

Kron's eyes lit up with excitement. "That's wonderful news! I've been working on some new weapons that might help in our endeavors. Let's go to my workshop, and I'll show you what I've come up with."

With that, Kron led them down a series of winding corridors in the guardian tower until they reached his workshop—a cluttered room filled with tools, weapons, metal animals and half-finished inventions. Kael and Meiza glanced around, impressed by the Kron's ingenuity.

Kron wasted no time in showing them his latest creations. "Behold, my latest creation!" he exclaimed, gesturing to a series of contraptions. "These teleporters will allow us to transport an entire army to the front lines, giving us the upper hand against our enemies. It can take the army anywhere."

"Amazing!" Mieza breathed. "But how do they work?"

"Ah, I thought you'd never ask, it's quite simple really," Kron said with a chuckle. "You see, these devices use a combination of crystals and ancient runes to create a stable portal. It's completely safe like the ones we create with our magic, I assure you."

"And what about that?" Kael asked, nodding towards a massive mechanical golem standing in the corner of the room.

"Ah, yes! My new masterpiece." Kron said proudly. "This mechanical golem is immune to magic, making it the perfect protector for Vasperia while we're away. It's indestructible."

"That's incredible," Mieza said, her blue eyes wide with wonder. "But can it think for itself?"

"Not yet, Mieza," Kron replied. "But I'm working on it. Eventually, it will be able to adapt and respond to threats on its own. Just imagine it – an army of golems, protecting the realm from harm in our absence."

Kael and Mieza stood impressed at Kron's ingenuity and the possibilities his creations presented.

"These are impressive, Kron," Kael admitted, examining Kron's golem with interest. He noticed the gauntlets on the golem's forearms. "I remember this from that one time you punched Zarathos with it, during our battle with him. He pointed. "This golem will be very useful in the battles ahead."

Mieza nodded in agreement, her eyes lingering on the golem. "And now the golems could also protect Vasperia in our absence, under your watchful gaze of course."

Kron beamed with pride at their praise, his excitement palpable. "I'm glad you like them! I'll continue to work on refining the designs and producing more units for our forces."

Kael offered a smile of gratitude. "Thank you Kron. We must return to Zaron, before my subjects notice I'm gone. I trust you'll be visiting soon." Kael boomed. " I certainly will." Kron replied.

Kael smiled again and extended his hand to create the portal back to Zaron. A swirl of lightning engulfed his hand creating a blast that opened the portal back to Zaron. Mieza waved as she stepped into the portal with Kael, returning to Zaron.
