Each circle of a mage represents a clear difference in power.
A first-circle mage cannot defeat a second-circle mage, no matter how they try.
Similarly, a second-circle mage cannot defeat a third-circle mage, just as a first-circle mage cannot overcome a second-circle mage.
This is an unspoken rule known by all mages that no matter how much a lower-circle mage tries, they cannot defeat someone from a higher circle.
But the Mana of Darkness breaks that rule. Not only is it hundreds of times stronger than any mana in existence, but its magical abilities are also far more powerful.
Still, I am only a first-circle mage. Fighting against a third-circle mage who truly knows how to fight, like Eres, was a recipe for defeat.
