As I started, I felt a sharp pain that made me instinctively catch a pillow with my mouth. The pain quickly faded, replaced by a warm, soothing feeling that spread through my body like a gentle wave. It felt like relaxing in a hot spring, with the warmth wrapping around me comfortably. What just happened? Was it due to mana access or a quirk? This sensation was new and hadn't happened before. I tried to think it through but didn't have a clear way to test it, so I decided to look into it later.
I took out the storage ring and put it on to experiment. I placed my wallet inside, and as expected, it vanished. When I tried to get it back, it appeared right in front of me. This was unexpected—things wouldn't come into my hand but would show up right before me. I then summoned a pizza box, and its weight increased immediately. I opened it to find a mushroom pizza. I tried a slice, and it was delicious—definitely the best pizza I've ever had.
Next, I tested all the abilities I gained from the gacha. I started with the Grasp of Soul. I put my hand on my head and wished to lower my age by 6 to 7 years. Almost immediately, my body began to change. My hands looked smaller, and my entire body seemed to shrink. I went to the mirror and saw a 12-year-old version of myself, looking like a child in oversized clothes. I tried some kicks and punches, and noticed a big drop in power due to my unfamiliarity of younger age. After testing, I focused again and thought about returning to my original age.
Instantly, my body went back to normal. After adjusting my clothes, I decided to try the Intangibility ability from the Hero Killer. I could pass through walls easily, as if they weren't there. I then tried removing my clothes while phasing, and they just fell off my body. After experimenting, I figured out that I could phase through walls with objects directly connected to me. However, I wasn't sure if I could phase through living beings. It only worked actively, so I had to be aware and anticipate threats—automatic phasing during an attack wasn't possible. I needed my senses and awareness to be very sharp to know when and how to phase.
I planned to test the Chicken Little ability in the morning since I couldn't see any birds right now.
For now, I focused on template transformations. I found out it worked with both assimilated and in-progress templates. I decided to transform into Shoto. To my surprise, I successfully became Shoto. I ran to the mirror and saw my hair had two colors. I stretched my joggers to check the changes; they were not much bigger than mine. I tried summoning flames in my left hand and ice in my right, and it worked perfectly—flames appeared on my left palm while ice formed on my right.
I then transformed into Bucky and Phil. When I became Bucky, I noticed I was missing one hand, and in Phil's case, my hair vanished little. Determined, I tried one last transformation. As I looked in the mirror, my hair grew long, my body became slim, and I developed a distinctly feminine form. I looked at myself, now resembling Hermione from the movies. Just when I moved my hand down for an heinous crime, something happened. My senses suddenly went on high alert. I quickly turned around, my heart pounding, as I saw a crack opening up in the air in front of me. It started as a small tear but quickly grew to a size big enough for someone to come through. I gasped as a girl stepped out of the crack. She looked hurt and ragged, with her clothes torn and dirty.
Her eyes met mine, and I saw her emotions change rapidly—from surprise to intense fear, and then to a deep sadness that seemed to weigh her down. It all happened in a split second, but it felt like a long time. The portal started closing behind her, almost as if it didn't want to disappear.
As the crack sealed up completely, I caught a quick glimpse of the other side. I saw a dark, thick forest with tall trees that seemed to watch silently. The girl's worried face and the eerie scene left me feeling uneasy and curious about what lay beyond but above all I need answer like how she came here ,was it a coincidence or ..
At the same time, somewhere else:
In the dim light of the forest, dozens of children of various ages huddled together, their faces etched with exhaustion and fear. The atmosphere was tense, and the air was thick with the smell of damp earth and sweat. They had recently escaped from a secret laboratory where they had been subjects of cruel experiments. Now, they were in the wilderness, trying to find safety and shelter.
Two girls, around sixteen years old, had collapsed to their knees, struggling to catch their breath. Emily, with blue hair, looked visibly shaken, while Mia, with silver hair, was clearly in distress.
A boy with brown hair named Dom rushed over to them, his face marked with concern. "Emily, Mia, are you guys okay?" he asked urgently.
Emily looked up, her face pale and weary. "Yes, just... it was too far. I don't think I can open another portal today. How are you, Mia?"
Mia, struggling to stay upright, shook her head apologetically. "Sorry, Dom. I can't provide luck anymore."
Dom placed a reassuring hand on Mia's shoulder. "It's okay. We'll manage. Just focus on getting better."
Another boy, with sharp eyes and a furrowed brow, spoke up. "I think I saw someone on the other side when the portal closed."
The forest around them was dense and shadowy, with tall trees looming like silent sentinels. The sounds of the wild—rustling leaves, distant animal calls—seemed louder than usual, adding to the sense of foreboding.
Then a girl with Purple hair and eyes move towards, her voice trembling slightly but filled with determination. "I had a vision. We'll get help, but it depends on that person we saw. They might be the key to our survival."
Dom nodded, understanding the weight of her words. "Then we need to be ready. If there's a chance they can help us, we have to find them or wait for them to find us."
The group fell silent, each person lost in their thoughts. The forest seemed to close in around them, its darkness amplifying their anxiety. The escaped mutants, with their diverse powers and fragile hope, were left to navigate their uncertain future in the heart of the wilderness, clinging to the hope that the mysterious figure they had glimpsed might be their salvation.
