"Will you tell me or not? What is this fundraiser about? How big is the event?" I finally break the silence in the car, my voice slicing through the heavy tension. The quiet wasn't helping at all in reducing the anxiety churning in my stomach, making me feel more on edge with each passing second. Every minute of silence felt like an eternity, amplifying my nervousness and leaving my mind to race with endless possibilities.

Christian chuckled and said, "Easy there, Wildfire."

"There won't be many people at the fundraiser. It's just a small event," he reassured me, his voice calm and steady.

""Will your family be there tonight then?"

"No," he said.
