Stefan's daring reminder of that day made Ella's lips quiver, and she gritted her teeth furiously.
"I told you it was a mistake, and you also know that. Thus, remain silent and act as though you are unaware of anything," she said.
Stefan nodded and grinned as he took in everything she had said, but there was one thing that would not leave his mind: the tears she shed when she told him about how her five-year relationship had ended because her boyfriend had suddenly come to find her unattractive and disinterested.
"Well, if that is what you say, but are we expected to treat each other with courtesy at work? It is going to be difficult for me to act as though I do not know you better," Stefan hinted, infuriating Ella even more.
"Shut up," Ella warned, making him smile even more before she turned and walked into the office they were supposed to share.
