A car swooshes by the road, rattling the dried leaves from the ground. A heavy stillness descended between Eveline and Gabriel.
While Gabriel waited to hear from Eveline, the latter remained quiet.
If he could guess, she appeared to be thinking about something, but the question had yet to be put at him.
Gabriel decided to do it himself once enough time had elapsed and she had not spoken a word.
"You didn't ask me, where are we going?" Gabriel inquired, finally noting her stature change.
Eveline turned to gaze at Gabriel, straightening slightly before fully turning to face him.
"I will, but first let me tell you something," she added, causing him to scowl in anticipation.
Eveline paused for a while, her eyes twitching with concern as she gently flicked her look to Gabriel and added, "Dad came to meet me yesterday, but he left after seeing the door locked from inside."
