Chapter 16 - Merlin The Slime

I woke up in my throne, just like last time. Everything around me was dark, but then I what was where.

Right in front of me, Mar Hast, my knight stood guarding the entrance to my 'palace' but the place between the entrance and my throne was just empty. I wondered for a second if I could fill them up with something.

In the old man's stories I learnt that in the court rooms of a King there are ther chairs lined up as well. There, the important members of the nation, like the minister, general and others sit and exchange their opinions on state affairs.

I could do something like that, I thought.

Unfortunately, I have trust issues.

'Sigh', I said it rather aloud.

Things can not go this way, it is very reasonable for a weak apple to reoy upon others. I would perhaps take initiviate to prepare the room as a court where other significant members of Astagha can sit as well.

For now, my goal was to ask the same question I asked Mar Hast the last time I woke.

"Mar Hast! How long was I asleep?"

"Your Majesty, you had been asleep for half a day."

Half, common, I guess.

I decided to go out and check how is the progress of the work I had given to Kavest.

Moving my little paws, I crawled down from my throne and left the palace. Then, I hit a realisation. Even walking this little distance makes me tired. I was just, that weak.

However...

I am a King! I don't need to walk by myself, my subjects will carry me.

"Mar Hast, is there any spirit capable of carrying me around? I don't like to walk." I asked the giant metallic spirit beside me.

"Your Majesty, I could carry you if you allow!"

"No, you should guard my palace. You have voluntarily taken this duty, and I am pleased by that."

"I am more than happy at this praise." Mar Hast replied.

"In that case, perhaps the Giant Slimes may carry you."

"Slime? Don't they just absorb everything?" I recalled a story.

"Only if they want, your Majesty. If they by mistake do end up absorbing you though, only they would be killing themselves."

As I was enlightened by this response, I couldn't help but think, 'Am I poisonous...'

"Alright."

"I will be immediately returning with a Giant Slime then."

Saying this, he instantaneously took a position as though he was about to make a rush at a direction. And he, actually did that! This sprint, which I could hardly follow through my eyes reminded me of the sprint Hahu the Skeleton made in the first day. Everybody in the forest can be so fast, this is concerning.

I am not just the weakest, but the slowest as well.

I simply stood there before my palace, occasionally staring here and there, mostly at the sight of my gigantic Mother Tree. If somebody saw me, they would think I just fell from this tree, however I somehow grew cat features.

Within a few minutes, I heard the metallic sounds of Mar Hast again, as he appeared with his giant hands holding a massive slime. It had no eyes, nothing, but just a pure blob of slime.

He left the slime and it fell on the ground spalttering all around. But then again, all the parts quickly gathered into the main body rearranging everything.

If I had to say, the Giant Slime was at least twenty times larger than me.

"Here your Majesty. Slimes can't talk but they can hear and see. They can understand your commands and move accordingly."

"Good job!" I was curious as to how that slime would carry me.

"Alright, big slime do you have a name?"

The big blue blob nodded sideways which meant no. Perhaps it could just see from its skin.

"You are..." my mouth strangely curled up smiling as I said this, "Merlin from now!"

Merlin was the name of a horse which the hero from old man's stories would ride on.

"Merlin the Giant Slime, that's a great name, your Majesty." Mar Hast praised from behind.

"Indeed, my sense of naming is great." I replied in counter, not knowing why I lied. "Alright Merlin, carry me, however you will."

Merlin's skin elongated forward as it approached me. I did not expect that. Soon as it was right in front of me, I knew I was supposed to walk over it, so I did.

Then Merlin's skin, which I should rather call a slimy hand or something shortened as it went closer and closer the main body. In the end it simply put me at the top of its head. And I was made to seat down.

I said in my mind, impressed. 'Now this is perfect.'

"Thank you Merlin, and Mar Hast. Now let's go check out our dear Wizard, you do know where he lives, right?"

Merlin nodded upwards at the question. It meant yes.
