Chapter 10 - Chapter 10

Existing the building, the security guard showed Erwin respect and anxiously apologized.

"Sir, I'm truly sorry, I was just carrying out my duties earlier, I hope you can forgive and overlook..."

Before he finishes, Erwin smiled and interrupted,"It's alright , I take no issue with it, you were just doing your job."

Erwin saw no reason to fault the man,as he merely fulfilling his duties, unlike the young, arrogant guard who had been dismissed.

Soon,a taxi arrived, and Erwin got in, he returned to his rental to pack and prepare for the move. As the day wore on, hunger struck, so he considered dining out, but then came a knock at the door.

"Who would come visiting at this hour?"

Curious, Erwin opened the door and found a portly man.

"Daniel, what brings you to see me today?"

Erwin was surprised to see Daniel John, his college friend, who had stayed in Bandung post-graduation and was working hard Despite today not being a weekend, Daniel, who was usually very busy, had taken time out for Erwin.

"Let's go, I've taken the day off just to have a meal and some drinks with you,". Daniel announced, draping an arm around Erwin.

Erwin was touched, as it was evident that Daniel knew of his breakup with Rose and was feeling down, so he took time off to offer support-a true friend indeed!

"Alright, it's rare for you to treat, let's go," Erwin agreed, his appetite aligned with the moment.

The pair sat down in ground floor eatery chatting over bottles of beer and skewers of satay. Daniel did not miss the chance to lead some solace,

"You know, I've always found Rose somewhat untrustworthy. It's good you're done with her, woman like her deserve to be left."

"I've put that all behind me now, but how is your girlfriend doing these days?" Erwin semi-relucantaly inquired.

Daniel's girlfriend, Monica Allen, had been with him since college. Despite not being strikingly beautiful, they were well matched. Unthinkable, she was diagnosed with uremia, needing a kidney transplant to survive.

"The surgery coast around six hundred million at least,"Daniel said simeberly.

"What about her parents?" Pressed Erwin.

"They're from the country side. They can't afford it. Monica had to borrow for college and only recently paid it off," Daniel said, downing more beer.

"So, what's your plan?" Inquired Erwin, contemplating aid if Daniel intended to stay with Monica.

"What can I do? She's my one true love. I thought of asking my parents for money, but they disagree with the relationship, let alone financing it. So, I'm saving up myself," Daniel confessed.

Erwin offered,"How much do you need? Tell me, I'll help."

"Don't joke. You don't have enough, especially without a job. Keep your savings for yourself,"Daniel objected.

"I'm serious, I just won the lottery " Erwin fibbed, unable to disclose his true identity.

"A lottery win? I don't believe in kind that cheats people," a frustrated Daniel responded.

Erwin did not explain further but took out his phone and wire transferred six hundred million to Daniel's account.

Mid-drink, Daniel's phone alerted him of the transaction, leaving him utterly stunned at the generous sum from his lifelong friend.
