There was a brief silence in the room, and Emily, having composed herself, slowly rose from the sofa and moved towards the door.
Klaus followed behind her, puzzled, asking, "Are you going out?"
"Judy has no family, and now that she's dead, I need to go to the hospital to handle her funeral arrangements."
"Let Marx take care of this," Klaus insisted firmly, standing in front of Emily. "You stay here."
"Klaus, I'm also partially responsible for Judy's death," Emily said, her eyes full of helplessness and pain. "If I hadn't been so anxious to learn about my mother from her, she probably wouldn't have run into the road and been hit by a car."
Emily sighed heavily and said to Klaus, almost in a pleading tone, "This time, please don't stop me, okay?"
Klaus hesitated for a few seconds, then compromised. "Okay, but you have to let me accompany you to the hospital."
