South, Red Moon Pack
One month later.
Snow was falling outside the house, and Emily and Mrs. Bauer were sitting by the fire, the orange glow of which threw a soft halo around their faces.
" It hasn't snowed on the border in a long time." Mrs. Bauer said as she knitted a sweater, " I remember one snowfall on the border when I was eight years old, but it was nothing compared to what we've had this year."
Emily glanced out of the window, where snowflakes were flying with abandon through the air, and the sky and the ground were white.
"The weather forecast says the snow will last almost a week. " Emily said.
" I don't believe in weather forecasts. " Mrs. Bauer said, "It might stop snowing in a little while. The weather is like an old widow's face, it just changes."
