In the bedroom, Elijah watched as the Dark Wizard rubbed the ointment onto an unconscious Haley. He dipped his finger into the silver plaster box and, bit by bit, applied the white plaster to Haley's neck, his actions as gentle as a whisper.
Elijah's gaze slowly fell upon the dark red pinch mark on Haley's neck, which was as shocking as a hideous scar. He felt a pang of remorse for having nearly killed her by mistake. If it hadn't been for the Dark Wizard's timely intervention, Haley might indeed have perished. Her death would have left him without a right-hand woman, and besides, Haley was his own sister. Though Elijah had never loved her, he had never considered harming her.
He was furious that Haley had taken it upon herself to investigate the Dark Wizard, whom she even suspected of secretly practicing human sacrifice. Elijah disapproved of Haley's overstepping her bounds.
