The 3000 river gods and 3000 ocean goddesses, as the children of Oceanus and Tethys, were the true rulers of the ocean realm. The ocean goddesses managed the entire ocean realm, while the river gods governed all the rivers of the surface world. Many of these ocean goddesses were even married to other gods, including some of the twelve Titan deities.
This group wielded a formidable power, though slightly weaker in overall divine strength. The river gods and ocean goddesses, much like the 3000 dream gods, shared their power among many, which diluted their individual strength. Unless they possessed exceptional talent or qualifications, breaking past their limitations was nearly impossible. Nonetheless, they still represented a significant force.
Their decision to join Poseidon bolstered his strength significantly, as they were already part of his domain.
"Greetings, Lord Poseidon!"
All 6000 deities knelt respectfully on one knee above the sea, each presenting a divine heart. They understood that by choosing to submit, they had to fully commit.
Poseidon merely glanced at them, took all the divine hearts, and then turned to leave.
Nereus smiled and directed, "All of you, do not participate in the Titan War. Just wait quietly and fulfill your respective duties."
"Yes, Lord Nereus!"
The river gods and ocean goddesses were obedient, understanding that compared to the Titan Lord before them, they were insignificant. They were third-generation gods, while Nereus was the descendant of an Ancient God, making him a second-generation god.
As Nereus watched them leave, he murmured, "The strength of the ocean realm continues to grow! Next..."
Nereus pondered the arrangements that needed to be made, as he was responsible for many of the tasks in the ocean realm, much like how the twins handled much of the work in the Underworld. Both Hades and Poseidon preferred to delegate these responsibilities.
After recruiting the river gods and ocean goddesses, Poseidon pursued his own research. Although he spent a century on his project and ultimately failed, he was not disheartened. The endeavor provided valuable experience for future efforts.
A strange, enticing voice echoed with the faint fluctuation of divine power, saying, "Poseidon! Your preparations seem insufficient. This alone won't be enough."
Poseidon ignored the voice, stood up, and left the temple.
Upon closer inspection, one could see a terrifying, monstrous figure bound by enormous chains within the temple, its red eyes fixed on Poseidon's departing figure.
"Hehehe... Poseidon, as you gaze into the darkness, you will eventually be consumed by it. Your perfect divine body will become mine. No! You will all become mine. Wait and see, I will replace you and become the new Poseidon, surpassing this mythological world and exacting my revenge."
The eerie laughter spread but was contained within a blue barrier, preventing the entity from moving.
...
In the surface world, Hades sat on his throne, having spent centuries in contemplation. Today, he slowly opened his eyes. Standing beside him was Hestia, who, feeling that her brother looked lonely, had decided to stay with him. As the twins were busy, Hestia took it upon herself to find someone suitable to accompany Hades—a goddess who was perfect, beautiful, obedient, and capable.
Hestia was considering this, not in terms of marriage or concubinage, as the roles of Queen of Heaven, Queen of the Underworld, and Queen of the Sea were fixed from the beginning of the mythological world and would naturally be filled when the time came. Instead, she sought a perfect "vase" or "secretary" to be by her brother's side.
At this moment, Poseidon entered the temple, accompanied by Eurybia, one of the five gods symbolizing the power of the sea. After taking his seat, Poseidon asked, "Zeus hasn't returned?"
"No," Hades replied calmly.
Though unspoken, Hestia and Eurybia sensed the sentiment: Zeus? Truly lame! Truly weak!
