Chapter 8 - Of Offices and Dodged Kisses

"It was so satisfying to see the Duke's face drop," Yellow said, almost swarming around Nelly as they kept walking towards their next destination. Nelly only smiled, this was but a small step in taking the beatdown back to the Walsh. They would be sorry to have slighted her. To be honest Nelly wasn't sure if it was anything but the fancy of Gideon, that wrought the shotgun marriage, but at this point she didn't care. Walsh is Walsh when it comes to revenge.

They kept walking on streets, passing by several shops, they visited a few more on the way just to make sure they had enough of a cover going. The wagon with goods was starting to get quite unwieldy and Nelly felt a bit sorry for the guard pulling it. It was for good use, she swore to herself, lying wholeheartedly about most of the purchases.

In another hour they had arrived at a larger city square, holding several more pompous buildings. There were both the city hall, where the floor mayor and his officials worked at, and a five star hotel. To top it all of was the building wearing the sign of MASKS and the accompanying wolf insignia. The building and its signs dwarfed the buildings beside of them. After all MASKS was an organization that was in charge of having control of the whole tower, while the others just resided on this single floor.

A guard at the door was eying their group. It wasn't a regular visitor of MASKS, to have a pair of ladies and their guards stroll up. They didn't care about how they looked, just like their cover story indicated and approached him.

"We are here for a guided tour," Nelly said, adding a flair of girl getting brought to a place where the man could show off to. Her own impression of a girl that got shown off to, she didn't really have experience with it herself. There wasn't after all that many places where she couldn't go to on her own.

"We offer no guided tours here Miss." The guard said politely enough, but with the clear indication that they weren't welcome implied with the tone and body language.

"What was what he said?" Nelly said finger tugging at her bottom lip.

"For you ladies I'd show anything" Yellow said and acted out the man's role, hat tip and everything.

"Do you know what he is called so I can call for them" The guard sighed, but asked the question nonetheless.

"Wolf something number or other" Yellow said.

"One! One was his number. He said just like I am wolf one, one lady isn't enough for me" Nelly said helpfully and snickered together with Yellow. The man's face whitened just enough for Nelly to notice.

"I will call him. It does sound like something he would say" the Guard said and Nelly was glad to have found some ammo to shoot back at the mouthful brat.

"Hi darling!" Nelly yelled when Kabek exited the building door. He looked very uncomfortable and was even further so when the guard said some words to him at the door.

"Please come on in, I have set up a tour for you." Kabek said and didn't act quite as overtly charming as Nelly and Yellow had painted him out to be. He was more defeated, maybe a bit embarrassed to have to play this game. Nelly and Yellow exchanged a fist bump over a job well done and followed Kabek in arm in arm. "You guards need to stay outside" Kabek said, stopped at the door and glared at Paco specifically.

Paco looked like he was going to teach him another lesson in humility, but Nelly waved him off. She didn't have to wave twice, but it was an uncharacteristic long delay between her order and him following it. He did relent and so did the three remaining ones enter the office.

"Bring us to wolf zero" Nelly said and looked around at the insides as they passed along.

"Yeah yeah, why do we have to do it this way." Kabek said, hands in pocket. Trying very much to seem as cool as possible. You could read a slight redness on his cheeks, he wasn't entirely very cool about it.

"Visible is invisible, and from what I understood from the guard you seem like quite the flirt" Nelly said

"He said he was gonna talk to zero about this." Kabek said, not answering the flirt allegations. Nelly put Kabek in the category of talking big game, but a loner at heart. One of them where everyone thinks he is out there getting laid each night, but usually ends up home in their lonesome.

The office area inside was busy with staff, everyone was moving around with quite leisurely pace, but the amount of people made it seem several magnitudes busier. Cubicle after cubicle of Wolf was working on their own piece of the larger pie. Most had some work in their hands, but there was one group, bearing the same alpha tag as Kabek that were just hanging around.

"Hey they seem like a fun bunch, want to say hello?"

"No…"

"Alpha's!" Nelly yelled and waved her hand at them. Their jolly chatter died and they turned to look at the group. From jolly chatter, to silence, to raucous laughter. The were holding each others shoulders as to not fall, male and female members of the group equally as full of enjoyment.

"Can we go now," Kabek said in a hushed tone, clearly busy to get out from there.

"Aww you are no fun, guess we can meet them later," Nelly said and blew a kiss their way. They all in unison pretended to either dodge it or grapple for it. They did seem like a fun group, hopefully not just a waste of her money though, she thought and shook her head. She was surprised as Kabek took her hand and dragged her away. "You jealous they got my kiss and you only got some fangs?"

"No, whod want a vampires bloody kiss anyway. Who knows what rotten blood you've ingested." He said, but his actions spoke differently from his words, why'd he otherwise keep holding on to her hand, with such a reddened ear added. Nelly laughed at how Paco would probably be throwing him out the window at this point.

It took an additional minute before they arrived at Wolf Zero's office. Outside the office door was a large wolf like form. One of the pups working at Wolfs, a failed werewolf. Taking in werewolf blood was quite a whole another ordeal compared to vampires. If the person wasn't strong enough, they would turn in to a wolf, not quite the same person as prior. They were smarter by several times than regular dogs or wolves, but retained little of the prior persons they were.

The wolf opened its eyes, emanating curious composition of calm and implied strength. Their gaze washed over the group and stopped in a jerking motion at Nelly. Its hairs raised up and teeth flared, but it didn't move. It yelped once and the door behind him opened.

"Enter at your own risk vampire." A voice said from the other side of the door.
