Chereads / Their Mafia Queen / Chapter 3 - Chapter 3

Chapter 3 - Chapter 3

"Where is she?" I heard Natalie say in an irritated voice.

I swear that woman is so annoying, so controlling, she likes to stick her nose in everyone's business most especially mine, she's such a bitch! Too bad she's the grandmother to my kids, I pray my kids take none of her ugly ways.

It took me some minutes to fix my disheveled hair and crumpled dress due to Khail's stupid hands that he couldn't keep to himself.

"Am here mom," I hissed in annoyance.

"And here comes the princess of the family," her voice dripped with sarcasm. Everyone's attention turned to me, and I felt my face flush with annoyance. I had grown accustomed to her jabs, but it still didn't make them any easier to swallow.

I took a deep breath and maintained my composure, refusing to give her the satisfaction of getting under my skin. I smiled sweetly, my eyes locked on hers.

"Ah, Mother, how could you say such a thing, you're the true princess of the Dallas family, infact you're are a queen, am nothing compared to your beauty, oh dear mother."

"Am glad you are aware." I didn't miss the proud boastful smile on her face as she rolled her eyes at me and turned back to her gossip buddies.

It's true what they say flattery gets you anywhere, even with this over proud peacock in shape of my monster in law.

Khail's eyes met mine, and he smiled at me, ignoring his mom's words. I actually do understand why her relationship with her son is horrible she is not only a horrible person but a horrible person at all.

Without breaking eye contact, he started singing "Happy Birthday" in a rich, smooth voice.

"Happy birthday to you, happy birthday to you," the guests followed in unison with him almost acting as a choir master, he was so damn funny to watch, most especially with the way he was waving his hands like he was leading a large orchestra, I wasn't the only one laughing at him, everyone else was dying of laughter as well.

"Mommmy," my little Pikachu, Noah gestured for me to join them. He's a really sweet child, he reminds me so much of my childhood and as for Nolan unfortunately am afraid he is so much like his daddy.

"Yay!" my babies cheered, as I joined them at the table and took my place beside Khail.

I glanced up to meet his eyes, I found him smiling warmly at the singing crowd. For the first time in a long while he seemed so carefree, his movements like a leaf floating on water. One would not guess how many souls he delivered to hell today but I could.

For a moment I couldn't help but get lost in his smile, so bright it lit up the whole place, it was the most beautiful smile I had grown to love over the years, the most perfect smile I had ever seen on any human and the dimples on both sides of his face made it even better.

As the crowd finished singing the birthday song, the atmosphere was filled with cheers, excitement and laughter. Nolan and Noah stood between their dad and I held the knife ready to cut the cake. I could see the happiness radiating from everyone's face, my boys were so happy and that filled me with joy as well.

"Alright, everyone ready?" Reese, their godfather asked, as the room fell silent in anticipation.

With a big smile, Noah looked up at me while Nolan looked up to his Khail, their eyes shining with excitement.

"Mommy, daddy are you ready?" Our little bambinos asked.

"Ready," me and Khail shouted unison and together the four of us cut through the cake, the knife gliding effortlessly through the layers.

Khail and I exchanged a glance, a silent moment shared between us. I could feel the warmth of his hand next to mine, and for the first time in a long time, I decided to let go of all our past and just move on with the beautiful present and future waiting for us.

No man is an Island, Mikhail Dallas wasn't perfect but he was the best dad any woman could wish for their kids.

He was a dad who would show up when needed.

A dad who would say Yes when asked for help. Most importantly my kids and I could count on him.

Fireworks lit up the sky, shooting straight up before exploding, shattering into thousands of sparks, others tumbling like a scarlet waterfall. The moment was breath taking.

Turning around I found Khail smiling at me and I couldn't help but smile back myself. This felt amazing and it was the beginning, our new beginning. It was time to let by gones be by gones. I had the sexiest hottest thing alive for a husband, the most perfect pair of twins in the world, what more could I possibly wish for.
